1967 Olds 98 Holiday Sedan in Germany
Hi,
I just bought this car and am very excited about it.
I lived in the US for 14 years (until 2001) and among many others, owned two 98s during that time, a '66 Luxury Sedan and a '71 which was the fastest car I have owned. That particular engine just ran incredibly well.
Having returned to Germany, I longed for the unique feeling of one these cars for a long time, now I finally found the right car for the right price. Obviously, the choice in Germany is rather small in large US cars, especially in decent shape.
The '67 is an original CA black plate car, which is in unusually good shape. It has been repainted a couple of years ago, with a quality paintjob - it seems that most of the trim was removed rather than masked and a lot of care was taken. The front bumper has been hit right in the center and bent/pushed up a little as seen in the pics. I will try and just pull forward on it to see what happens. Any other tips? No bumper shops over here! :-)
The interior is in outstanding shape, no rips or tears, only average carpet wear. Besides a couple of clunks and rattles it is in great shape.
The car is very complete (front left wheel well trim is missing) with almost no dents, the vinyl top has hundereds of little cracks, not good for the metal beneath.
It drives well, an Edelbrock 750cfm was added just recently since the original carb was damaged. I suspect that carb is much too big for a stock 425, what do others think?
An exhaust leak from the silly spring-loaded valve in the exhaust manifold is annoying, I plan on removing the valve and closing the holes. The brake master is leaking, the suspension has some clunks, and there are about 15 other small items on my to-do list.
I am really excited about it and love the challenge of driving and parking it on the small european roads. :-)
Thanks for reading, hope this wasn't too long.

Welcome to CO!! That's a LOT of car my friend...why not throw a small Opel in the trunk for a "spare" , and tool around Europe?? Hell , with the length of that yacht , you should head to a small country like Lichtenstein and get a picture of it with the front and rear ends in the different bordering countries!! Great photos...tell us more!

Hi and welcome to CO!!!
Sweet olds you have there!!!!
Nice to see, that oldsmobile gets bigger and bigger in Germany
I think your 750 cfm carb. should run great if it is setup correct.....
Heres a helpful cfm calculator: http://www.usaimports.co.uk/Carb_Calculator.htm
Ps: Vielleicht sieht / fährt man sich ja mal übern weg
Regards,
Torsten

Wow, that's a beauty! Cool action pics, too.
Just a suggestion: your front bumper is a little high in the center. I'm betting you could loosen the frame brackets to tip it down a little first, then you could pull it forward and down a tiny bit.
The deluxe wheel covers look really good on that car.
