Hidy - ho from from FL

New member from the Tampa bay area in FL. I'm doing a frame off resto of my first car - a 1972 Cutlass S with 35,000 orig miles. Unfortunately I wrecked it in 2003 after football practice in High School!

Welcome to the site, and good luck with your project!

Jamesbo... I lived in Dunedin Fla just outside Tampa for a couple years in high school. I've never heard about roping a vega so if jlwaller doesn't explain it you'll have to! John

The old Chicken Delight fried chicken delivery cars were Vegas, Mavericks and Pintos, had a lighted chicken on the roof.
It used to be good sport to attempt to rope those chickens when they were driving by or wrangle them and then tie the rope to a tree before the guy took off.
Didn't dare do it to the Pintos, they could go up in flames.

http://www.jlwaller.com/cutlass/

Going to order the rear end stuff this week so i can get it all rolling

CC501 Springs
KYB Gas A Just shocks
New Control Arm bushings - rubber

Then comes new floor pan_im gonna have someone else weld it in - anyone have any ideas/tips)

Got the motor running - been sitting since 2002 - fired up on the third try - idles smoother than a baby's butt after running for about 20min!!

Hello All,

I am restoring a 1970 Sports Coupe in Seminole, FL. My uncle gave me the car about 6 weeks ago and my son and I have been working on it every weekend, except Christmas, you know family time and all. It is a total frame off restoration and is moving along pretty quickly so far. Finishing up disassembly, almost ready to pull the body off of the frame...then it will get real interesting! Any suggestions on the best junkyards around the Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco Area (Tampa Bay Area) for Cutlass parts?

Thanks,
Chad

The best source for Cutlass parts in our area is Bob Anderson, 1600 E Busch Blvd, Tampa, FL 33612, 813-932-4611, 9-4 M-F. ...

501 Paratrooper,

I'm glad ya like it. It's one of my favorites.

455fogedcrank,

I've never lived in the Tampa area, I just love Cuban food and figgered jlwaller must have tried sum. Maybe even been to a Jai alai game.

FYI

Bob Anderson has always been a straight shooter with me. But he ain't giving stuff away.

I guess we can consider it storage fees, as he has kept everything under roof for years.............

Thanks! I appreciate the info. Yep, I kind of expected Cutlass parts not to be cheap. I guess you've got to spend the green if you want to be envied?!?
