Talking Welcome to Classic Oldsmobile

Gustavo,

Great looking 98 you have there. You'll fit right in with the Yacht club group. Olds64 is the yacht club president and will chime in shortly

Welcome to CO. Nice looking car that would qualify as a land yacht! That looks like the original color too.

For a loud exhaust, the larger diameter you use and the shorter the entire system is the louder it will be. 2.5 inch diameter for big block engines, some even go as high as 3 inch diameter. If you use dumps/turn-downs (pipe that is terminated after the muffler but before the rear axle) it will be plenty loud but probably too loud to those inside the car. If you run the exhausts all the way to the back bumper it will not be so loud but still be very nice. Glass Pack mufflers will be louder than those with traditional baffling inside of them and will give a more stacato note especially after revving the engine and letting the rpm's run down (racing the engine). Muffler brands are a very subjective item and you may find four recommendations from four different people so I won't say any particular brand. I do know that you can still buy Cherry Bomb glass pack mufflers and they give a traditional loud exhaust associated with American Muscle.

Good morning Gustavo
We know about the problems to find parts for our classic cars.By searching an exhaust system for our 1963 F 85 we found this shop http://waldronexhaust.com/shop/index...129e230e551c47
The prices are ridiculous low If you will find what you are looking for ask for the shipping costs to your place We are waiting for an answer about this
You got a nice REAL MUSCLE car.We like to see you on an US-Car Meeting next year somewhere in Germany

See you,Claudia&Martin

Hi & welcome aboard! The list of German users (or living in Germany in my case!) increases once again! Do you mean you have a single exhaust you want to convert to duals? (Deutsch: Doppelrohr) It's not clear to me exactly what you want. Therefore, if you need help with translations, send me a PN. Bin ehemalige Uebersetzer!
You don't want to go TOO loud here in Germany, otherwise you'll have problems with the TUEV! I'm partial to Flowmaster (http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/index.php?cat=1) As you can see across the top, you can choose either just mufflers or complete kits.
Another place to look is Summit (http://www.summitracing.com/).
Manchmal sind die sogar guenstiger als direkt von Hersteller!

I have a flowmaster 80 (it's made special for "F-Body" Camaros & Firebirds) on my '92 Z28 convertible and dual flowmaster super 40's with a "H-pipe" on the Olds 442 you see in my avatar. Apropo "H-pipe": Das waere vielleicht auch was!

Ich wohne in Idar-Oberstein, RLP. Liegt ca 1 Std SW von Mainz.

@ convertible 63: Hallo nochmal!

Ralph

Just a short hello from this German guy with his 1969 Cutlass out of Munich. I guess we can open up a German sub forum here pretty soon. ;-). Maybe one day at a US car meeting here in Germany.

Best regards and thank you for your help to all.

67Olds98,
I don't think you are going to find a kit for your car. I think your best bet would be a muffler shop that can make you a dual sys. Then you can use what ever muffler you want to. A nice 2 1/2 sys all the way back, over the rear axle and turned out to the sides.

Hmmmm....

Depends on what you need. If it's pretty common stuff, try AutoZone. Another (slightly more expensive, but sometimes it's the only choice!) is Summit. They both ship to Germany. "Classic" parts are a problem. I'd recommend putting what you need in the parts wanted here on CO for starters.
Anybody with other ideas?

BTW: Speyer isn't all that far fron where I am- Idar-Oberstein!

Hi and welcome to CO from another german guy, too.

I´m 20 miles away from nurnberg.

If i need parts, i order at shops below:

summitracing.com

thepartsplaceinc.com

opgi.com

jegs.com

fusick.com

ive ordered more often in the us than in germany....

its a third more cheaply with all the shipping, sales and taxes, than buying directly in germany.

Thats what i would do, too.
Or you can do it by yourself ....

I would go with flowmaster or trush mufflers, they look like stock mufflers...
instead of the probs with the "TÜV"

Torsten
