Recently found this Olds site. I have a fully restored "51 Olds 88-A 2 door. I have always owned and restored Chevrolets but 15 years ago I purchased an original 26,000 mile Olds 88. It is now fully restored. Looking around on this site I see little or no interest in the first series Olds 88-(1949-1951). Is there anyone else with one of these great Oldsmobiles on this site ?. I hope so.
Welcome
Welcome to the site. There are a couple that I know have the earlier Olds I am sure they will make their presence known soon. This is a great site to be on to find and share info.
Welcome

There are actually a number of guys on the site the have early Olds, I own a 57 Super 88 and a 48 76 sedan, Dan (Oldsguy) has a 46, there are others hear as well. Tell us more history on your car, how you found it and what you had to do to restore it. All of us on the site love pictures as well.
My friend from the other coast is attached to 69 Olds, poor guy just doesn't understand the true classic's but he's and ok guy anyway.

PS It doesn't rain everday sometimes we just have a heavy mist. At least we don't have bugs that can carry you away

My '51 Olds 88 was purchased in 1993 in Hartford Ct where it had sat outdoors behind an apartment bldg for 10 years. It only had 26,222 miles, was a completely untouched, rust free original but was badly weathered. I have kept it completely 100% original and the exact factory duplicate interior was just finished this past winter. It now has 36,000 miles on it. I drive it on nice summer days only, but it has been raining here almost every day this spring. This is my keeper. It has been to 2 NAOC national meets- 2001 & 2007. I will add photos later but I'm not sure how to do it- I may need help. LOL.
Welcome to CO. I think Norm (88coupe) has a couple of '50 88's but I don't think they have been restored. We have a member with a '39, a couple of 40's era cars, about half a dozen 50's era cars. That makes us just that more special...
Kcars: When I got back into Oldsmobile's, I was looking for a '50 2 door sedan. Found out (then - 1989) that they were going for $15K. I sold mine (my 2nd car) in 1956 for $650.00! So. I screwed up, and found myself priced out of that market. Bought a '68 Cutlass S in '89, then a '68 Flat Top Wagon in 2004, then the '92 Custom Cruiser in 2007. Doesn't mean that my heart doesn't still belong to that '50 2 door sedan!!!!! Welcome to CO, and I'm sure there will be multiple '50 owners chimeing in shortly.
Aron Nance: When I found my 2 door sedan in '93 I had no computer (e-bay). Now I see the '49-51 first series rocket 88's all over but there is a lot of junk out there- mostly cars needing extensive restoration, etc. Fully restored or rodded 88's are expensive. My chrome alone was $5,000+. In the old days you could restore a car and make money. Today I don't think you can ever get back what it takes to do a proper correct restoration. I hope someday you get that elusive '50 coupe you want so bad.
