442 from up North
442 from up North
Hi everyone, I have posted on this forum, but was remiss in submitting my introduction. I live up in Manitoba, Canada so we have short summers and long winters, so our cruising season is short. I have had my 1968 Olds 442 W-30 since 1971. I bought it with a 327 in it. This thing couldn't get out of it's own way, so I bought a 1970 455 long assembly from GM, now she pulled hard. over the years I have done many mods. until it is a wild beast to handle now. I will include pics.
Hi Folks:
Just wanted to let you know my 442 now sports a TH200 4R overdrive automatic full of Art Carr parts. This trans is amazing, I swapped out my Tremec TKO500 as #1 I didn't like the 2-3 shift, and #2 it is only rated for 500 lbs/ft. torque, which I far exceed!!! Usually putting an automatic in tames a car down, not in this case?? If you baby it, it is quite docile, but get into it and it goes totally NUTS!!!!

You have the only Olds that I have desired even more than my '68. What a nice ride. People bug me for not keeping mine stock, but it was not stock when I bought it and I found to return it to a true W-30 would have been very expensive, and the 455 is a blast to drive!!!
