I am new to the site. I have recently purchased a 1966 Track Pack car out of the Denver area. I bought the car from a broker/dealer and the owner wants to remain anonymous. Best I can tell the restoration was done around 08 and it was sold at Mecum in 08. The guy that I bought the car from, purchased it from Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale in 16. I would just like to know any info on this car, who did the restoration and paint etc.

1966 Oldsmobile 442
RARE 1966 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 number 34 of 54 produced. Track-pack engine, ebony black exterior and tow-tone blue cloth bench seat interior w/color-keyed vinyl floor covering, four speed, radio delete option, dogdish hubcaps, redline tires, documented by Olds Authority Curt Anderson. In 1966 Oldsmobile built 54 cars known as W-30's to be certified by NHRA to run in Stock Classes at NHRA sanctioned events. The NHRA allowed the cars but required that Oldsmobile provide them with the serial numbers and names of the purchasers of each car to be sure the requirement of 50 cars were sold and delivered in order to comply with NHRA Rules. The majority of the cars were sold to known drag racers. In June of 66 Olds built the 54 cars in the Lansing Michigan plant. Most were stripped models with no radios, some without heaters and all had the 466 gear rear end, Made for one thing - GO FAST in a straight line for 1/4 mile. They were sucessful as they won the C Stock Class in 66 and 67 over Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford and Mopar. The cars had the special Shroud over 3 two barrel carburetors with ram air hoses routed through the bumper. Close ratio 4 speed in all cars with the battery located relocated to the trunk. Each car was numbered and this is certified as car #34. It is an F-85 442. Many were made with cloth interior and with plain and color combos to discourage the showroom buyers from wanting to purchase the car. Hence Blue interior with Black Body. This car is a piece of Oldsmobile History as there are only 14 of these cars in existence today. Because of their rarity, they are considered the Holy Grail for Olds Collectors. It has been restored to correct specifications and has been awarded First Place in it's Class at the Oldsmobile Nationals in 2004. This is your chance to own a piece of Oldsmobile history. Beautiful Car! With documentation you should refer to the car as a W30. These days the term Tack Pack is generally used for non factory produced cars that have had the W30 package added via customer or the dealer. In 66 and 67 the W30 package could be purchased as a unit over he parts counter.
The car was restored by Dan Ethen who found the W-30 body less the original drive train in MN. Curt Anderson did authenticate it as one of the 54. Dan collected all of the correct parts and put them on the car. I'm not sure if the original rear axle was in the car or not but I'm pretty sure the engine & trans were missing. The OAI cleaner came from a guy who had it on his 66 and Dan traded him a track pac cleaner for it. As for how many track pac cleaners there was,no one knows for sure because we know of cleaners numbered up to 98 or 99. That means there was 40 something numbered cleaners and a good number of non numbered cleaners sold as track pac units. It amuses me when somebody tries to claim only a certain number of something to make it sound better. Another thing,all 66 W-30 cars came with TT coded 4.11 rear axles,not 4.66's..
