Buick guy, dont hold it against me

Just registered here, i'm mostly a Buick guy and i am on V8Buick.com often. I love all the BOP cars and often run across Olds and Pontiac parts while chasing Buick parts around as i'm sure a lot of you people do as well. This site has helped me ID some Olds parts and i figured i might as well register and be a part of the group. Thanks, Brian

Welcome aboard, theres a lot of information to be had on this site. I am restoring a 67 442, I also have a 65 Corvette Coupe, and a 73 Trans Am. I would love to complete the collection with a nice 69 or 70 GS. I am a member of V8 Buick but only go there to fantasize... maybe someday. Im mainly a GM fan but there are a few other makes I would like to own, Rambler, Ford, Mopar. All made some nice rides

If I were not an Olds fan I would probably be a Buick fan. They made some great cars.

Welcome to the group... I'm definitely an Olds guy... BUT, I do also have a Buick... I was in need of a new trip vehicle for myself and the Mrs. in 2009, and since I couldn't purchase a new Oldsmobile, the next best deal for me was a 2009 Buick Luzern CXL Special Edition...

Welcome to Classic Oldsmobile. I don't fault anyone for appreciating Buick or Pontiac. They are number 2 and 3 in my book, directly behind #1, Oldsmobile. Hope you truly enjoy the site. Larry

Welcome Brian. Back in the day of daily's, I really liked the 73 Buick Regal.
The 350 4 bbls were sweet. I even stuck one in a 72 S Cutlass. Great drive trains. Over the years I had 7 of 'em. One with a 455. Traded that on straight across for a 70 442.

Welcome. Someone told me that the Chinese saved Buick Division when the purge came. Any truth to that?

Buick is very popular in China as a luxury brand. 80% of Buicks are sold in China.

Welcome! During the years that we needed a family bus, we owned a Buick station wagon with an Olds 403 motor. It was a great car and served us well. I also looked for a Buick GS as an addition to my Oldsmobiles but couldn't find an affordable one.

My garage houses a Buick, an Oldsmobile and a Chrysler. All have their merits and downsides.
Welcome to the Forum from the other side of the pond.

Roger.

Welcome thanks for signing up

I just sold a century to buy a ford to pull my Oldsmobile. In high school I owned mopars, GMs, as long as it was cool and fast but got to drive a real 442 convertible occasionally. That's the one I remembered years later and had to own a convertible cutlass with that 455. Buick is a GM and we all look for parts so hope the connection helps us all find Buick,Olds parts.

Right out of high school I worked for a Buick dealer in the parts department. I worked there from 64 until 66 when I went in the USAF. The dealership had a 65 Gran Sport Skylark they ran on the local dragstrip. It had a 4-speed and I got to drive it a few times. It was white with a red top. It would not hang with the GTO's (I don't remember running any 442's) because it had those small valve in the 401. What a fun and pretty car with the taillights all the way across the back. The other Buick I loved was the 65 Gran Sport Riviera. What a great car and it was a little thirsty. I would love to have either of these cars but especially a 4-speed Skylark Gran Sport.

Agree completely then some AMC's, Ford/Mercury and of course Mopars. Then probably brand C. Our go anywhere car is a 2010 Challenger SE.

My first GM car was a '77 Buick Skylark coupe (Nova clone) that I drove all through college and for a year or two afterward. I'd had VW Beetles in high school. I bought it off my great aunt shortly after she went into a nursing home. It had about 13,000 miles on it when i got it in 1983 and I drove it about 70,000 miles before I parted with it in 1988.

The only other Buick I've ever owned was an '84 Century that I had from 1992-1996 and was my least favorite car ever. It was a stripped-down base model with only two accessories--a rear defogger and wire wheel covers. The car had a supremely uncomfortable bench seat, an AM radio and no passenger side rear view mirror. I couldn't do much about the seat but the latter two items were remedied within 48 hours of buying the car. Ironically, the Century had also belonged to a lady who had gone into a nursing home.
