need some advise

I have a 72 cutlass supreme i just had it completely rebuilt, 350 v8,
had a 268h comp cam, comp roller rockers, new comp springs, balanced, edlebrook intake, quad jet perforance carb, and a new hei dist.
Before the rebuild the accellation from a dead stop would pin you to the seat, now it gradually takes off. Any ideas.

Could be one or more of many things, such as ignition timing, camshaft timing, carb tuning, etc.

It depends on how much mechanical advance is built into your distributor. With an HEI most people have their timing set between 16-21 degrees initial with vacuum disconnected.

Now let's just wait a minute and think.

While I agree with checking the timing, I would point out that we have almost NO meaningful information about this engine.

What, exactly was done to it?

You say it was "completely rebuilt." What does that mean?
Bored? New pistons? What compression height? What volume dish?
Decked? What's the deck height?
Head work? Milling? Valves? Port work? What is the combustion chamber volume?
What type of head gaskets?
What's the calculated compression ratio? How does that comport with the cam installed?
Cam timing? Did you confirm it by degreeing the cam?
Distributor? Did you confirm proper function of mechanical and vacuum advance?
Carburetor? Rebuilt? Re-jetted if necessary? What type?
Who built it? You or someone else? When? What did they say when you told them of this problem?

We'll have a hard time giving you intelligent answers without the basic information.

Welcome to ClassicOlds.
