I wondered too Eric. I have used an H pipe on three cars and it cut the drone out. I think the X pipe will give a different sound.

H and X are your 2 choices. Read up on what each does and use the one that suites the application of your engine and intended purpose. H pipe is what most of us have used for many decades.

Ok so between the H and the X pipes there's really no difference than sound and fitment the H is easier to install and gives room where X is ah lil more about mounting in a decent space...H sounds muscular while X sounds way cooler and smooth (quiet with a smooth flow) so with that being said I'm leaning more toward H only because of cost X to my understanding costs more than H... So cost is the deciding factor

They both cost about the same.

Two videos that cover X v's H crossover theory and straight pipes v's X v's H dyno numbers.

The test are interesting. It really just comes down to ease of installation and sound. The H pipe is always going to be easier to install and cheaper.

The exhaust shop tried to sell me on a Y or H pipe. I went with the true dual, two individual pipes. 2.5" diameter not counting the reduction when crimp bended.

I like the sound. I am not racing or drag stripp where each 1 HP pick upis desired.

Thanks to Aussie for posting that Engine Masters video on actual comparison among systems.

I put no crossover on my car because I wanted that 1970 sound, although my friends told me I was leaving a lot of horsepower untapped. I now find that I gave up little power.

My biggest dislike of the X pipe is the sound. My neighbor has one on his 700 hp Roush Mustang. To me they sound like Euro trash or rice rockets. As stated in the video they sound like the engine is doing 7500 rpm vs the 6200 rpm it's really doing. It's like an angry swarm of bees rather than a throaty muscle car and this is at all rpm's. Ford commonly put H pipes on many of it's models and they never had that sound and still retained the beefy deep muscle car vibe.
I'll take the H pipe any day.
