W31 air cleaner on a two barrel

Is there any way to adapt to W-31 air cleaner on a two barrel carburetor? The car is a tribute and looks fantastic outside with and would ike to put the W-31air cleaner on the two barrel. Don't want to move to a four barrel cuz the car runs perfect as it is.

Can't you just take the lid off and use the small inner lid and adapter on top of the existing air cleaner base? I'm not sure if they're the same size or not, but if they are, problem solved. Just need to buy a lid and an adapter and good to go. Just a thought. Not my thought cuz I'd never do it, but if'n I were. Otherwise, if it isn't the same size, just run what you got and quit trying to fool people.

I think he wants the dual snorkels and ducting, which would require a W-30/31/32 housing.

OP: If you want to do this, it's gonna necessitate some fabrication/modification/butchery. I would start by pricing out repop W air cleaners at vendors like The Parts Place and then look at ways to adapt your 2 bbl. base. An original W unit will be too expensive and it would be a crying shame to hack one up.

You may surmise from my tone that I'm not a big fan of this type of modification and wish people would either be satisfied with what they have or buy what they want. As noted above, you won't be fooling anybody and there will be no discernable performance gain.

Yep, I used something similar. Had to modify the underside of it though to clear the bowl vent and choke linkage. Does the trick until I do go to a 4-bbl. It did put the base at a height that a standard crankcase vent tube and the heater pipe doesn't quite fit right.

Good point, if he were looking for 68/69 ram rod/W-31. I assumed it was 1970. I never had a 2-bbl Cutlass air cleaner so I never paid much attention to size. I might have missed it, but I never saw a year mentioned.

"Doing it all the way" would necessitate getting a correct manifold and 4-bbl, among numerous other things you're probably also not going to do.
