Question Tires

What is the fattest tire I can put on a stock 14" rim on a 72 Cutlass Supreme

The question is not whats the fattest, its whats still available. Not much choice left in the 14" wheel size, so basically anything you get will fit.

How very true. 245-60s are about the largest you'll find these days.

The limited availability of 14" tires is one problem. The other is, what's the WIDTH of your wheels? Rule of thumb is that tire width should be within an inch or so of wheel width.

The other problem is tire diameter. The BFG 245/60-14s are the widest 14" tires you can find, but they are somewhat smaller than the original tires used on 1960s Cutlii, resulting in waaay too much daylight between the tire and wheel opening, in my opinion. The best looking tire for that application that is currently available is the 225/70-14.
