I am the owner of a dealership in Flushing Michigan about 40 miles from Lansing ... I am British but have lived here in the USA since 1991 ... I have an affinity toward Oldsmobile thanks to my father giving me a model of a 1970 Toronado in the 1980s ... I have owned maybe 30 Toronados over the years but still I am seeking the right 1970 ... I am a stickler on originality and although I have found some 1970s never have I found one to meet my standards ... also I always have a selection of classic Oldsmobiles in stock at my dealership which is an ongoing ever changing "collection" ... I also have a 1988 Convertible Cutlass which was bought from GM it is as new with 1000 miles on it ... I am also looking for a 1980s Firenza 2 Door hatch with bright colors ... hope to speak to some other Olds enthusiasts in my time here

Was this a conversion or a special order of some kind? Is that what "bought from GM" means? I thought all Oldsmobiles were bought from GM.

Olds did not make a convertible version of the Cutlass in 1988. The last year was 1972 until a convertible was again offered in 1990.

 

Welcome. Is your 1988 a RWD Cutlass Supreme Classic, a FWD Cutlass Supreme, or a Cutlass Ciera?

 

GM made 50 Cutlass Convertibles in 1988 ASC converted they they crushed the majority .. the car I have was GMs prototype ... bought directly (GM Corp is named on the bill of sale) from GM in 2010 ... I will post pictures when I can

I had a hunch that's what you were talking about, which is why I asked the question. These are the FWD Cutlass Supreme cars, as used at the Indy 500 that year. Is this a Quad 4 car?
