Seling my 70 rallye 350
I would like to sell my Rallye 350. I have owned it since 1977. I drove until Feb. 1990. It has been sitting in my garage ever since. It was running when garaged, the clutch has since rusted fast and the key is broken off in the ignition. I believe it to be all original, I have not matched the #'s but I know it is a 1970 350 engine from the #6 cast on the cylinder heads. The body is solid with minor rust. I am looking for help in setting a price. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Debbie in southeast PA.
we will need more information to be able to get you in a ball park price range. can you post some pictures or e mail them to someone to post them? the Rallye 350 don't bring the big money like a 442 will but if all the hard to find parts are there and in reasonable condition it sure will help.
For what it's worth, the October 2011 issue of the Old Cars Price Guide lists the average value of a '70 Rallye 350 in #5 condition (restorable, but currently does not run) at about $3400. Get it moving under its own power, and the average value rises to $5600.
These are very average values, and any particular car will have pluses and minuses. But they might give you some idea of where the market is.

Thanks for the replies, forgive me for not responding sooner, I had to work the weekend. I'll work on getting pictures posted. In the meantime, I have more info. It has a four speed transmission, the interior is in fair condition, bucket seats in front are rough but the rear bench is still in good shape. Like I said it is all original as far as I know. I live about 10 miles from Reading, Pennsylvania. If anyone is close and wants to take a look I'd be willing to compensate you for your time. Thanks again.
Mike
I apologize for not posting pics. A combination of my inexperience with the site, my work schedule and losing power for three days from the hurricane is slowing me down cosiderably, mostly the latter two. I should have pictures soon. I will post them as soon as possible
I finally have some pics for everyone. http://s1179.photobucket.com/albums/x382/RALLYE70/
), but be smart about the sources you pick for pricing information.
It looks like the engine or heads have been replaced at some point. On the front of the drivers side head there is an 8, it should be a 6 on a 1970 350 Olds engine. Also looks like the master cylinder has been replaced as I do not see the bleeder valves that should be just above the brake lines. The top of the OAI(outside air induction) air cleaner assembly is missing? Maybe you have it stored somewhere? The bottom air cleaner base looks to be an original piece & is very valuable, don't get rid of it.
I'm sure other members can offer more info.
Good luck with it.

Sorry, but PLEASE don't confuse asking prices with selling prices. The fact that someone ASKS a million dollars for a car on an on-line auction doesn't mean that the car is worth that much, especially when the car is not sold. A far better gauge is to search completed auctions on ebay. You will find that the high dollar cars RARELY meet reserve and even those that appear to be "sold" end up being listed again a few weeks later. I'm not suggesting you give the car away (well, ok, feel free to give it to me...
), but be smart about the sources you pick for pricing information.

i would think this would be relatively low on the price range seeing how much work it needs, though its a great starting point, 4 speed Rallye, has the hood but even the little things will add up, window cranks *****, cigarette lighter, radio etc, then the more difficult (ie expensive) items, right side mirror, OAI flapper, 70 fenders, etc. It is definitely a cool car and a great project car that's for sure - wonder if the rear end is a 3.91 the radiator looks like a correct 70 Harrison as well.
Thanks for all the comments
Boondocker, thanks for the cover while I dive behind my Rallye. It definetly has been garaged since 1990 and it is a 6 on the head not an 8. I can post more pics if you'd like of the 6.
