Saying Hi....
I recently stumbled into this forum so I figured I had better get involved.
To start things off, I have been building cars since I was 14, my main interests have always been Chevy's & Fords, however, in 1955 when everyone was crazy about the '55 Chevy I opted for a '50 Olds 88 2dr clb sdn....The car was Dune Beige and had less than 20k on the odometer.
That Olds would run off and hide from any '55 Chevy there was.. I lived in Nevada at the time, Nevada did not have a speed limit so it was very common for me to cruise at 100 mph. I once did Baker, CA to Vegas, a distance of 90 miles in 45 minutes.
A few years earlier I had a friend that bought a new '49 2dr clb sdn... He would run off and hide from the Idaho State police in that Olds.
In late '55 I bought a '53 Olds Super 88 2dr post sdn.. That was a real automobile, it ran at 120 + like most cars did at 60.. I drove that car across the US twice when I was in the US Army.. I finally sold the car when I got transferred to Germany.
I have been looking for a 88 fast back for many years, I finally found one in Rapid City. SD.. I am going to restore the car painting it Dune Beige, the power train will be a Olds 350 CID, 200R4 trans and a stock Olds rear end with 3.42 gearing... The front end is a Fatman Stage II, power rack-pinion.
The license plate on the car is.... 'MEMURES'....
