Rookie in Chicago
Hi all,
I've been lurking around this site a while now and figured I might as well say hey. My name is Craig and I recently picked up a 1964 Dynamic convertible from a local retired guy here in the Chicago area. Around the same time a coworker and friend of mine picked up a 1968 Delmont convertible. The cars are all there but need some TLC. I'm hoping to get in touch with a good core of guys for leads on parts and some guidance on these old girls. Look forward to talking with you guys.

Welcome to CO neighbor! Very nice vert! Im on the South Side also. There is a junkyard on 134th and Kedzie that just might have parts for your car. The name is Poole's Junkyard. We also attend crusie nights on 115th and Kedzie, 95th and Pulaski, 95th and Cicero during the summer. If im not mistaken, I think ive seen your car at 1 of those events.

Hey all,
Hope everyone had a good holiday. I got a few new trim pieces for the 88 under the tree this year as well as a set of mint condition 1964 Illinois plates which I thought was a cool idea (didn't ask for them). I'm gonna need to recore my radiator or find a replacement asap. It spits antifreeze from a few spots up top once the car is started. Also need to look into the charging system. It seems I run down my battery all the time and I'm sure it's not charging properly. I found a set of Cragar SS 15" on Craiglist $120 for the set so I bought those this Monday. I'm starting to think they wont look quite right on the land barge. Any opinions guys?

Big car with cragars is old school lowrider style. I personally like it. I think a nice white wall tire will set it off with those wheels. We put cragars on my dads 77 pontiac boneviller 2dr and we went with the muscle car style 15x8 out back with a wide tire and 15x6 in the front and it has the best of both worlds.
Welcome to the group. Nice Olds , but tell me about the Ranchwagon in the garage!!!! Is it a 53 or 54 , 2dr or 4 dr? First car I restored was a 54 2dr Ranchwagon. Had it for 20 years.Do you have any pics of the wagon? Nevermind I just read your response to another question about the wagon!! Rod

Thanks for the input guys, I was kind of leaning toward a thin whitewall too but still not 100%. Here is another pic of the 53 Ford Aremann. I'm sure the local guys have probably seen it at a show or two.
I suppose Oddball wasn't the best way to put it. It's definitely unique. I'm not a fan of Fords or wagons so this is the absolute furthest from what I'd ever want to own lol.
I live around chi town and would use common sense on getting it running right then drive it and enjoy it but you will be doing work when needed. I go to the route 66 carshow then drive drag race and enjoy mine but I also know which neighborhoods to not drive it too. good luck jfb. the bopc in st Charles il is coming up in February check it out online for time etc. the prices are right and I bought a lot of stuff overtime with a eye towards the completed project and budget for that year.
So I decided on no whitewall. The tire selection was scarce and the whitewalls I really wanted from coker were out of my small budget. I think it turned out pretty sharp. I'll post some better pics when it isn't so wet and shi*** outside.
I would have gone with 235 or maybe 225 instead of 215. i think would have filled the wheel opening a little better.
But otherwise looks sharp, a great looking car with the wheel and tore combo.
