Restoring 66 Dynamic 88 Convertible

I have a 66 Dynamic 88 convertible I am planning to start a restore on. I've been planning this restore for over 20 years now... about time I get started. :-)

I've owned the car since I was 16 years old (I'm now 44). My oldest brother bought the car I believe in 1973 and road raced it in Cedar Rapids, Ia out on old Airport Rd. I am told. It's had many engines in it over the years and is currently carrying a 350 small block (I have (2) 425's waiting in the wings). So the car has been in my family now for 38 or 39 years. My wife and I had our first date in the car in 1987. Shortly after that I decided I needed something more dependable and moth balled the old girl (the car... not the wife) and bought something else. That is the last time she ever really saw the road and is in dire need of some TLC. I've been doing some research and getting motivated to start my restore... finally.

I am glad to find some Olds enthusiasts out there where I might be able to find some help.

So there is my introduction. Pictures will follow as appropriate.

28 years is a long time to own the same car.

I have always been big on the 1965 B body, 1966 comes in a very close second.

My goal is to have it out of storage and in my garage this weekend. If I can make that happen pictures will follow sometime next week. I will open a new thread in the projects forum. Thanks to all of you for the encouraging words.

I probably wouldn't have kept it this long except for the sentimental impact of that first date.

There's something you don't see every day

You gotta believe that 2-1/4 ton barge would have been a real handfull on a road course. But I mean that in the nicest way possible

Excellent reason to keep the car!

I would say it is always good to have another olds still around.Sounds like a decent car and 90 percent of the time they are repairable. Some were in ruff shape in the major rebuild section and they look great now.Mine was not top notch when I bought it and still needs proper rapairs. But it is the fun of owning them and driving them that is all worth it.Two 425's you say hmm Thats wild they are not the easiest to find.I find more 455's than 425's.I have to find a engine and trans for my olds ratrod project it was orig a 425 th400.Good luck on your resto and we all love pic's so post plenty
