Is this a rare find

Hi my name is Victor and I recently purchased my second cutlass. This one is from florida and is 98% rust free. My question is I have the bill of sale, window sticker and all documents that show original ordered split paint job. I've never seen a cameo white painted top before only vinyl. Anybody know anything?

Two tone paint was a factory option available under RPO D99 for about $31. It used the same chrome trim as the vinyl top to separate the colors. Not uncommon in the 1960s and early 70s.

Some of the experts will speak up but I am pretty sure this was available. Most people used vinyl tops though.

It is somewhat uncommon to have the window sticker and all the original ordering docs, however. Be sure to keep those with the car!

Welcome to the site, not at all unusual to have a painted top. Post some pics.

Thanks guys. I am really excited about fully restoring this one. Manly because of the one owner and all the documents he kept. Can you believe besides window sticker, manuals and purchase order I even have the original protect-o-plate and accessories options pamphlet from 71 that the salesperson checked off all options offered seperately.

If it's a '71 3600-series V-8 Cutlass S, the factory produced 10,743 of them among all bodystyles.

I had a 72 S in that exact paint combination back in the 70's. It was a great car.

Nice score.

Get yourself a box of Mr Clean Magic Erasers & a small pail of water & get busy on that interior. Change out the water frequently. You will be amazed at how those erasers will smarten up that interior. You will need 3-4 to do the entire interior (they disintegrate).

When I was 15 I had a Chevelle that was blue with a white painted top with the chrome trim and silver rocker panels. I drove that car till the wheels fell off. Your car is sweet! A great find!
