Quick Intro on my 1964 Cutlass

Hello Everyone. Been reading here for a while and finally decided to introduce myself. My name is Robert and I live in Lancaster, CA. Employed as an Engineer/R&D for a Seismic Company specializing in Data Centers.

The Car: 1964 Cutlass w/455 - Originally purchased by my wife's sister when she was in High School for $50 - in family ever since.
She has been sitting for OVER 20 years with a very short restart here and there. I got it back and got it running again. Discovered the shipper dented the oil pan during delivery.

This is where I currently sit. Plan is to pull the engine and major clean the engine bay. Clean up and re-seal the engine with new oil pan. All the seals (intake/exhaust)are dry and rotted.

Here is a pic of the day the tow company dropped it off in my driveway on 7/10/2017. I'll get more pics up soon.

The Day our 1964 Cutlass came back home. 7/10/2017

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Plans are to clean it up a bit and DRIVE IT! I will work on other things as its being driven. Transmission was rebuilt and brakes were redone about 12 years ago and then parked. Im hoping its just a matter of changing hoses and wheel cylinders, fix the oil pan, re seal the engine. Interior will get re-done as the funds allow. Missing one small bumper trim, a couple emblems. Popped the trunk recently (it's been stuck) and found another rear panel and front headlight panel.
Here are a couple of pics I have.

Interior - Still dirty and crusty. All interior trim is present

Back Seat - All there... did I say Crusty!

Engine - 455 Olds. Performer RPM Manifold, Carter AFB Carb (Seized, swapped a Holley 650 to get it running)

Interior Dash - Yup. All there

An older picture - Looking at this I just realized my Brother in Law Primered it. Not too happy about that.

I posted more pics yesterday but do not see them. Does each of my posts need to be approved?

No, each do not need to be approved. Sometimes the system picks up on a series of words and boots it to be moderated. No rhyme or reason.

So Cal 64

Welcome to the Forum, I think I have the brother to your car! Pulled mine from a barn in Tulare, CA about 2 years ago. Just getting her finished up now. Mine looked a lot like yours from the interior side. Here are a couple of before and after photos. If you have any questions, just post up. Here is a link to my rebuild thread on the forums:

Does anyone happen to know where I could find a hood spring? In the pic above of the engine you can see the driver side hinge is broke. Or maybe what other year/car will work? I would like to get that fixed before my hood gets FUBAR.
Thanks for the Welcome everybody.

They make all the parts after marked and work. I have been helping SPO out on some parts but I do have a spring or two. No hinge. I have a good dash no pads or speaker grill. But good dash. Lots f radios and parts.

Group 8.013; Spring, hood hinge; part #3848272; 1965 "A" body is the same; "B" body is different. I don't know about newer or other divisions.

I might have a good driver side hinge. I'll have to see, as I know one of mine was tweaked. I used 64 Chevelle hinges and they worked and looked the same. It looks like your spring is OK, but you need a hinge. Your previous post said you needed a spring, just checking! If the hinge I have is usable, I"ll send it to you. Will get back to you tonight.

64 Hinge

I’ll take a look tonight. If it is still good, it’s yours for free. I’ll PM you for an address, if need be.

Sorry. Both hinges are bad. I would shop around on Ebay and other vendors. I think I paid about $75 for my set on the 64. That was from Jim Dyer Classic Chevy in Stockton, CA. I'll keep looking, I might have another set, but they could be 70's.
