Olds 5.7 Diesel Engine Color

I am looking for the original paint color for my 5.7 diesel in a 1981 Cutlass. Thanks.

all the ones i ever dealt with were a detroit green.also pontiac in the early to mid 60's had a blue that thru time would turn a green hue.

I don't believe the exhausst manifiolds were painted.

Otherwise, blue seems right to me.

I believe that every GM engine after 1977 or '78 (all except for Chebby as of about '75) was painted "GM Corporate Blue" after the famous complaints about engines from the "wrong" Divisions ending up in cars. Once they were all the same color, it was harder for the casual observer to tell whether the engine under the hood was Chebby, Poncho, or Olds.

307s from the 1980s were black.

GM and Chrysler went to black so the owner wouldn't notice small oil leaks, I was told.
