citcapp is correct but some things to think about. If it is a new gasket go ahead and torque them bolts but if the car has been sitting for some time do not torque those bolts. After sitting for a long time a gasket could get brittle and it you torque it down there is a chance that the gasket will be damaged. Drive the car for a few hundred miles and let the gasket absorb some of the oil and soften up. Then go ahead and torque them down.

trans pan

I just put a filter kit on my 69-98 455 cid and I believe the service manual said that the torque was 11 lbs. It may have been 12 but I know it was not too much. That would be if you are putting in a new gasket. The kit I got had a rubber gasket and I added a film of Permatex on both sides for a little extra comfort on my side.

And just to clarify, the units of torque are FT-LBS in this case (as opposed to IN-LBS).
