News to Olds

Hey guys just wanted to say hi. I'm new to Olds but I'm liking them so far. Just bought a 1953 303 engine for my coupe.

welcome to CO

Early coup or period correct? In either case the 303 is one of the best looking engines when dressed up with fresh paint.

X2 what (other) Eric says. We like photos. Lots of photos. There is lots of help in the Vintage Olds sub forum not to mention engine builds forum etc.

I'm old enough to remember what a stir was caused in the hot rod world when Olds (and Cadillac) came out with OHV V8s in '49 models. I also remember lots of articles in the original Hot Rod magazine about stuffing an Olds in various models of hot rods--mostly Fords. Firms smart enough to design and machine engine to transmission adapters made a good living on Olds adapters. The flathead Ford guys knew their day as 'top dog' was over when Olds V8s started showing up in hot rods.

I'm looking forward to reading about your build and seeing progress photos.
Jerry

You will probably want to look at Ross Racings website. They have lots of stuff for the first generation Olds engines. Tony knows his stuff.
