Welcome to CO Armin. The 4 door hardtop cars without the post between the front and rear doors are quite unique and not too numerous here in the states. People seem to prefer the 2 door model cars and hence the 4 door cars get missed, used, abused and discarded usually. Hope to read about your efforts to revive the car in the future.

Could anyone help me in this issue?
https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...indshield.html
And i also wanna know if the grill is stock or not?
i think ive seen grills like this on 442s.
Unfortunatly both of the headlight housings are broken
Coldwar vinyl top is unusual or cruise control or the combination of these?

Looks like a good, solid project car.
I read an article in the New York Times a couple of months ago about an American muscle car club over there - seems the combination of cheap gas and lots of American cars imported over the years make a great situation for old car collectors!
Good luck and welcome!

Welcome. We have really gone global now that we have a member in Iran and Russia not to mention the ones we already have in German, Thailand, Australia and probably several other countries I forgot.
Are there many other Oldsmobiles in Iran? As mentioned, this is a pretty unusual car. Are any parts available there. great folks here who will be glad to help. Keep us posted.

The grille is not stock and appears to be one from a 442 as you suspected. It should have a grille with verticle bars. The headlight bezels are reproduced, or can be found used on ebay. This is a good new source. www.fusick.com

Looks like a fun project car. Hope you will keep us posted on your progress. You can find a lot of the parts from sseveral different places on the Internet but shipping will probably be kind of expensive. Stay safe. By the way, I am in Japan, one of the countries that did not get mentioned.

Good luck on getting parts.
Sorry, but due to sanctions you can't buy, sell, or ship parts or anything else from the USA by federal law, too bad.

Okay, so at about 10,000 Rials to 1 US Dollar, how much is a liter of gasoline there? It's nearly $1 a liter or 10,000 Rials here.
Yeah, but, reading the news, there's some stuff going on in that neck of the woods. Not a country where I'd discuss local politics online with someone from over there, but I think that was the point.

Eric the gas costs 7,000 rials or 0.7 dollar a litre now.
And also in Iran you should pay around 40K for a car that costs around 20K because of the import taxes.Isnt it ridiculous?

I know where he is from, why wouldn't I want him to stay safe with the way things are going over there now? You are correct about the shipping, I had forgotten about that, however after going to lots of different places in the world I have found that you usually can get what you want but as he states just costs alot more money.

I can't imagine what would happen over here if the price of gas went up 7x over a few months - from $3.00 a gallon to $21.00 a gallon !
Heating oil at over $3.00 a gallon is darn near killing me right now.

Armin I spent some time out in Iraq and Kuwait one thing you could do if you have a friend in Kuwait is have it shipped there then have them send it to you. It will cost more in shipping and take a bit longer but you'll be able to get your parts. I know shipping to Kuwait is not restricted as when I was there in 2003, 04, 07, 08 I recieved a number of packages on and off of military bases. Just an idea I'm not sure the border is sealed between Kuwait and Iran because we talked with people from Iran fairly often. Anyhow good luck and keep the pics comin!

And for this reason its so hard for me to buy expensive parts like the head light housings. They will cost me around 900$ for me to buy them new!

here are two shots one of a 68 Cutlass grille and a 68 442 grille. Yours look to be a export grille. Who knows what Olds did in those years for an export car. Who knows maybe it is some custom grille somebody made. Do you know how long the car has been in your country or where it came from?

Hi there again!
I have some questions.
First of all I wanna know if the front and rear park lights (rocket ones) should blink when you use the turn signal.
And how can i remove/install the trunk emblems? i can not access the nuts on the trunk lid.
Also i wanna know how the cruise control works! I push the little button on the turn signal lever but nothing happend. The previous owner told me the cruise control is working.
Thanks guys.

Armin: From the factory, the Rocket lights on the fenders DO NOT blink with the turn signals. They can be modified (I did it on the Silver Bullet), but forgot where I got the info to do so. Might try Real Olds Power. It does look cool. Big Red does not have that modification. No knowledge on the cruise control. Seems as if you use a small socket driver to get the nuts off the inside of the trunk lid to remove the outside, not really sure.

Your Cutlass Supreme emblem above the lock is removed by taking off one speed nut. You get to that nut by going in with your 1/4" drive socket extension (I can't remember the socket size, may have been 7/16", you'll have to experiment) through a hole that is just above your trunk latch mechanism. You can't see the hole real well without turning your head funny, but you should be able to feel it with your finger. Just make sure to not drop the nut inside the trunk or you may have to remove the latch to get it out. The emblem itself has two studs on it. One has the speed nut on it to hold the emblem down, the other just keeps the emblem from moving about. The Cutlass nameplate is just held in with tabs. I removed mine using a hard plastic spatula (with a sharp edge) and carefully prying it off (move from one side to the other, lifting just a bit each time. Make sure to pry in the middle as well).
Also, for the future this (1968 Cutlass Assembly Manual) might come in handy for you:
http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-b...aldisplayed=16
The links to each page of the Assembly Manual are in the lower right hand corner.
Regarding the Cruise Control, it's possible the guy lied to you about it. Check and see if the fuse is blown. If the fuse is fine, use the Assembly Manual to make sure that all of your connections are hooked up properly.
I know it will be expensive, but you should try to get a 1968 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual. They come on CD or as a book.
Good luck!
