Newbie - glad to have found this site
Hi all,
Wondering where I would find a site that attracts the most people for olds enthusiasts. Think I found it. Since 2004 when parts became unavailable at dealers, it's been a challenge for repairs. I have a 1989 Olds 88 Royale Brougham, 3.8L V6,auto with 10,000 miles. Rides like new. Only had to change the hood struts and need to repair the digital cluster. Two door coupe.Been stored for last 10 years. Family vehicle. Second owner-same family.Original tires, paint, no accidents.Insured and turned it back to a daily driver recently but vandals hit.Looking for parts and will post in classifieds.Insurance co.says it's a write off based on market value but aside from condition, I think 2 doors are rare.Correct?I have not been able to locate any.Still fighting for fair value and keeping it from the crusher. 65% of market value here means it's written off.
have a great day,

Thanks all. Will keep looking. Tried the guy (Bob) at the Florida dealership with NOS parts. He didn't have what I needed but he located a couple of things elsewhere for me. Great help.Still waiting to hear back from the insurance co. on their offer and decision on whether it is a writeoff. Again this is a great site!
Unfortunately, unless one carries special insurance our older cars aren't valued at very much at all and when something happens like what you experienced they want to write it off. Perhaps you could buy it back from them and keep it that way. My daily driver is valued at about $800 and it is only ten years old. Keeps the insurance and propertay taxes affordable and since it isn't an Oldsmobile if it was ever written off due to damage or accident I would just let it go and start over.
Very true Oldsguy. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for $ and getting to keep the car. Quite a neat car. FE3 suspension and a factory spoiler. Cornering lights are a bonus too.
