Newbie casting number questions

I am trying to sell a 1971 455 and trans. A guy asked me about casting numbers on the block and heads. Where exactly would I find those? I believe what he is looking for may be behind some brackets, but I'm not sure. I can't believe selling an engine is so much hard work. I am not sure why he would need casting numbers, it won't be a numbers matching car, because I saw the car go into the shredder.

He wants casting numbers because more than one uneducated seller has advertises an Olds motor as a 455 when, in fact, it was a 350. He wants casting numbers because some Olds heads are worth $50 and some are worth $5000. As a seller, it's in YOUR best interest to know what you have and what it's worth. Alternately, price the motor low enough and tell him it's pot luck.

I'm fairly new also and had this same question, read the above post, several members gave me some good info. I'm still have trouble finding the derivitive number, but W/Z manifolds, G heads all check out on mine.

Would the locations for a 455 be the same as these pics or " almost " the same location?
