Newbie with another '59

Howdy all, found a '59 4 door on ebay last week and fell in love. Bid the most I could pull out of my...assets.. but didn't figure $1k had a chance....well, thankfully people would rather pay big bucks for a 2 door with a busted engine and no floors or trunk! Not really looking to do a showroom resto or anything, but I figure for a few thousand and a little putty and paint I can have a nice cruiser that'll be with me for life. All the chrome looks to be in place, mostly surface rust save for wells, said to have run when parked. Anxiously awaiting delivery and chance to take some pics of my own, but here's some from the ad for now.

Probably be a week or so before I see her, only 280 miles away, but for what I was quoted for transport nobody's gonna pick her up unless already headed east across 80 in NE with a free trailer spot....and 1/2!

Welcome Nate. Nothing wrong with a four door sedan!

Welcome Nate, looks to be a decent start. I hate the term "was running when parked".

Welcome! Body not too bad, and the interior looks really good!

At 300 miles away might be worth it to rent a U-Haul trailer and bring her on home yourself?

Super 88? Very nice car and excellent original color scheme! Please keep us posted. I think you've made an excellent purchase.

Looked into that first, but it was rejected despite being under the 5k limit they restrict to. maybe a length/width issue. My 1/2 ton burb would probably struggle quite a bit too. Tried for my brother's tilt bed and 1-ton but somehow caused a bunch of family drama.

She's shipping tomorrow. All told around $1500 in after shipping and interest by time i get guns out of hock. Hopefully i can have her running on a tuneup and fluid change and enjoy her while taking time on body.

I'm brilliant......spent so much time fixating on "ran when parkef i didn't stop to think what it means that the distributor is out....spose i can get an inspection camera to check for mice and large debris and if i brick it then it needed an overhaul anyway.....

Got her home today, will deff need new door upholstery and front seat, back may be ok with some cleaning. Not a crack in the dash, but will need some sheetmetal on driver's floor, rockers ok at a quick look. Was a bit concerned when no generator, but found it in the back seat, guessing it was pulled for a reason. Broken a/c mount I'll try breaking my new welder out on, other than that the pics pretty much spoke for themselves. Will clean out all the dead mice and trash this weekend, maybe pull seats and carpet. Will start a progress thread from here on out.

Welcome aboard, looks like a good start.

Be sure to take pictures as you clean it up, people love to see the before and after shots(that's me included) wish I had more of the early days of my car... Tedd

There was a fellow on here a while back with a Sixty. If you can find those threads you'll see much the same thing you're getting into.
