Smile Newbie

hello I am new to this forum and I have an original 1970 delta 88 custom, 2 door, with a 455 rocket. it needed a lot of body work cause the back window rusted out. its taken me a few years but I think I got it all done. my problem is..... part are a pain to find!!! ive been looking for headers and a nice set of rims. does anybody know where I could get headers? and what is my bolt pattern?

Your car has 5 inch wheel bolt pattern.

Headers can be tough to find because the steering configuration requires the pipes to have unique bends. I believe that your chassis pattern runs from '65 to '70 ('64 is different, right, guys?), so that's where you need to look.

These are great cars.

Welcome. Keep in mind that you have a body style that is not particularly popular with hotrodders, so no one makes headers or patch panels. You might want to consider modifying a set of headers for a first gen (1973-74) Omega, which has a similar rear-steer configuration to the 65-70 full size cars.

No, it's outrageous.

And do some searching on here, the modern Mondello (not Bernard) has a very bad reputation.

Also, why are you so intent on putting headers on a low compression, low-performance engine?

Yes. General Motors made a wide variety of cars with similar characteristics and many parts interchange.

Im wanting to beef it up. ive done research and yes there are headers that fit the engine just not in the engine compartment of the 70 delta 88. the headers have to be specially designed to clear the control arms. thanks for the heads up about mondello performance. the engine right now is putting out 350hp. im shooting for 600hp. but im going to slowly get to 600hp by changing little stuff at a time. so I thought why not start with headers to give it a little more power and a more meaner sound.

The 70 455 would be a higher compression engine than the 71 up ones. I would not spend big bucks for troublesome headers on this car. Factory had an option for dual exhaust and the correct driver's side exhaust manifold is available repop from Thorntons among others. An aftermarket muffler of your choice will give the sound you desire with dual exhaust.
