Newbie-71-Cutlass-S
Hello everybody,
My name is Jared and my car is a 71 Cutlass S. I just got out of the military after 14 years and brought it with me to Rapid City, SD. I am attending Hot Rod Institute. I almost had to give the Cutlass up due to not having a job and attending school full time but I came up with the perfect plan to save it. I have it to my 12 year old daughter. Now we can't give it up and we have a daddy/daughter project to work on together.
Future plans for the car...we have an Olds 455 to build and I am currently looking for a 4-speed. It currently has an Olds 350/350 combo and is a good daily driver. It needs a complete interior.
I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the site. You came to the right place. There's guys on here that are willing to help walk you through any way we can. Myself included. (I'm slowly restoring a 72 Cutlass S )guys on here really know there stuff. Olds parts are plentiful and most would rather sell to a Olds guy. Even at a discount if they know it's for a restoration. We like pictures a lot so when you get a chance post the car as you bought it. Thx & welcome.

Welcome aboard, and thank you for your service. Nice to see the daughter is interested. Just a little weird that she's 12 and out there driving that car without supervision. What would have happened if something went wrong? Just sayin.
Enjoy the project. I hope you both will learn from it and bond even stronger.

Yeah, Allan R, I can see how it can seem weird that she is driving around a parking lot. When I was stationed in England we had a big field and a smart car. She has been driving since she was 7 so she has experience with shutting the car down. In this case she went twice around the (empty) parking lot and didn't touch the throttle. There is usually more to the story than what there appears to be.
