a newbie with a 69 convertible

Hello all. a little background. Im 47 , married, 2 college age kids , a few beef cattle and a dog.......and im probably the last guy my friends call for automotive advise. I can do the basics and that's the extent of my knowledge. Ive lurked on this site for quite some time and have been amazed at the knowledge that you guys share. Ive always been a olds guy. I fell in love with a 1970 442 convertible that a friends dad had back in high school. that was 1986. I dreamed about that car for 30 years but I recently had a car kinda fall into my lap. This is not my or my wife's dream project car, but it checks alot of the boxes.... I parlayed that into a 20 year wedding anniversary gift for us.
So here i am.

Nice color combos!
I'm partial to the 68 & 69s.
Many of us one/two-year wonder fans here. Questions, we can answer them.

Make it safe and reliable before you take it on a long anniversary vaca road trip. Starting with brake system and its soft lines, tires cooling and fuel systems.Repack front wheel bearings grease the front end etc...it needs the same love you tractor gets.

Find parts on evil bay, Fusick, Year One, OPGI, Inline tube. Soft Seal & Steel Rubber for weather-stripping type things. Try to ferret USA made parts when possible.

Welcome to the best Olds site there is! Enjoy your car to the max and ask questions when you have them. I learn something from here nearly every day and this site helped me through two restorations.

Welcome aboard! From one (former) '69 owner to another. That is a schweet looking ride. I can't wait to see the pics What color is your ride? It looks the same as mine, though mine was quite faded during the short time I had it

Its powder blue from 1969. it appears to have had a shotty repaint 20 years ago or so. its got some rust on the quarter bottoms and a few dents. the motor is not original either, but alot of work has been done to the car. its not a wreck and am very lucky to have found it for the price in its current driving condition
