Newbie

Hi guys , new member here from Pennsylvania. I have been reading these forums for years and finally registered. I restored a 63 Starfire a few years ago and now working on a 66 Starfire. I also frequent the AACA forums. I learned a lot from the guys on this site. Thank you

Look around under my username for '66 Starfire stuff. I've had one since 1998 or so and it's been done up pretty well.

Most happy to assist and answer questions as you go along.

Upfront
1) get the safety stuff (brakes & suspension) right before doing anything else. No one should be hurt/worse in your classic.
2) know that, mechanically, this is more or less an Olds 88 with special trim
3) you can add HEI, front disc brakes and a rear sway bar to make the car really nice to drive
4) some where here I've posted my 15x8 tire solution, it looks right on this big car
5) you can gin up Chevy 1049b fake wire wheel hubcaps with '66 Olds tribal spinners to have some fun with fake wire wheels
6) cutlass stuff mostly doesn't work - except '66 boxed rear trailing arms to allow an Addco rear sway bar
7) the '66 Starfire shared a ton of trim parts with '65 and a few more with '64 model years. Search those years when looking for spares.

Dig around under my username for factory assembly manuals and other stuff. I've posted a bunch of factory PDF's cleaned up to be helpful.

Hope that helps as a start. Welcome,
Chris

Hey cfair that is a beautiful Starfire you got there. Mine is red on red but I always liked that color combination that have you too. I also see that you have cornering lights up front. I think that adds a nice touch. I agree with you, do all the mechanical things first. A couple years ago I rebuilt the motor and transmission and everything under the hood, carb, fuel pump, waterpump, starter, alternator etc. Then life got in the way and got pulled off of it. Got back on it this past winter. Tore front end apart blasted and painted every thing. Installed all new bushings, lower ball joints, shocks, links etc. Then did brakes, shoes, cylinder, hardware, lines and hoses. Just got the booster back from rebuilder and master cylinder. I appreciate your offer for help. I will post some pictures when I have time and figure out how to do it.
