New Texas member here...

I don't have a car club or car show background but I'm looking forward to attending some gatherings to share new experiences. I may try to attend the Granberry event in April if all goes well.

In the meantime I'm enjoying browsing the forum.

Welcome from Mayberry (Granbury), post some pics of your car. The NTOC are a great bunch of people with a good representation of Oldsmobile Cars.

Need to meet up at Opie's now that the weather's nice. Good mid-point in Spicewood for us Austin folks and has decent parking, not to mention good BBQ.

We're located between Burnet and Bertram on a small county road. We took the maiden voyage to MF last nite. Went to Taco Bell (that's all the $$$ we had left) and then back to Burnet's DQ for dessert. Shoot me a PM with some contact info and we'll try to get together.

Sounds good to me! I had forgotten about 3.91 gears until we took the short ride last nite... 55 mph is approximately 3000 rpm so I won't be driving to Houston any time soon!

Bluebonnet's always good and they serve breakfast anytime! Great for those of us that aren't such early risers . How often do you get your ride out?

Every chance I can.
Usually on the weekends, but If
I get home from work early enough
and it's nice out, a short jaunt is in order.

Too bad the bride and I are flying to Harlingen this week. It's so difficult to stop and say "hey" when we fly. Maybe I'll drive down again next time.

We've got a great airport in Burnet. Stop in for some coffee on your way to the valley. I'll pick you up.

Nice looking clone! First time I've ever seen two underhood lights mounted there. Betting it's a lot of fun to drive. You ever think about putting in a 200 4R so it'll be less RPMs on the highway?

Thanks for the kind words! It's a bit of an unusual clone. Short story, it was assembled in 1978 using a trashed (frame, & body shell) 1970 W-30 as a donor. After everything was rebuilt the engine, OW trans, W-27 rear end, ft & rr sway bars, OAI hood & air cleaner, inner fender wells, dual gate shifter & console, deck lid, spoiler, and supports and everything else that could be used were grafted to a very nice Cutlass S with original sheet metal, floor pans, interior, etc. The original builder used full disclosure and titled it using the Cutlass VIN when the project was completed. It remained in his extended family for 36 years. When I purchased it, I received the original donor W-30 title, VIN and cowl tag to connect the parts to the original car. I won't ever represent the car as anything other than what it is. After looking at this car, my friend, who owns an "original" '70 W-30 says in some ways he considers my car more authentic than his. Following an extensive restoration using interior pieces, parts, sheet metal, floorpans, etc. from any number of vendors, and certainly not GM, he considers his to be more aftermarket than original. However, he does have the broadcast sheet and other documentation that is so important to the purists.

I owned a '70 W-30 in high school equipped exactly like this car. Although the highway cruising rpm is a bit excessive, I won't change a thing... too many memories and so much fun!

Was hoping to pick it up at the end of the month, but it's looking like mid-April now. Gotta wait for my buddy to bring his trailer down from Oklahoma.
