New From Texas-1966 53000 mile Cutlass Holiday Coupe

Howdy fellas,

My name is Robert from the FtWorth, Texas area. I have a one owner, 4th week of August built 1966 Cutlass Holiday Coupe that has some interesting 1967 Cutlass parts and options.

I have had this car barned since 2004 and have not driven it since 1999. My dad and I took this car in a trade in 1996 and that October my dad passed away suddenly. I am member #29294 in the OCA but haven't been active in 9 years.

I am new here but not a forum noob and I am about to embark a "frame on" restoration of this car so I will be wearing this forum out I am afraid.

Specs: (I have run down every # I could run down years ago)

330cid 4X 10.25:1 Ultra High Compression motor
ST300 SuperTurbine trans
12 Bolt "O" code rear end
PS
PB (drums)
1967 vinyl patter split folding bench seat
1970 SSI 14x7 wheels

This car was hit pretty hard in the passenger front and I spent a year putting the car back together in 1997-98 before my divorce.
I have seen ONE 1966 F-85 on the road or show in 17 years..ONE. 2 1966 442's neither a Holiday so whilst this car is not rare by any means it is certainly uncommon.

Without further ado,

Welcome fellow Texan.
Wow, that front end work
you did came out nice.

Most hit that hard, would have
been junked. Nice save. Looking
forward to your build thread.

Howdy Blue,

Thanks for the comments. The work came out 75% there. The goal was "THEN" was to get it back on the road. The front end wouldn't align because the frame is still a few 16ths off. The 442 hood, the used hinges and the Pate right front fender need a lot of massaging to fit well and line up. I will definatley take it back apart and have the frame re-stretched and repaired a lot close plus, I intend to rebuild the front end, covert it to disc's as well. Also, I have some serious window channel rot that I will need to have to remove the glass and fabricate me some window channels to weld in and by now for sure, a passenger and trunk floor. Any referrals on that?

I will have a lot to do correct this time around.

I was thinking since this is not a rare or valuable car, cloning a 442 out of this Holiday. All the parts (I have the hood) are in the aftermarket these days AND clones are cool today. Not FAKES like they were when I was young (I am 50)

P.S. I am going to join the North Texas Olds Club today. Marble Falls is the Hill Country and I live on a 110 acre ranch in Godley....We should befriend one another. PM me for my email addy if you care too.

Robert

The closest fellow I know of
that may be able to help with
parts for it would be Henry, 66400.

I haven't made it over to his yard yet,
but one day soon I am hoping to.

There are quite a few of us here from
around the Austin area. I'm thinking
once spring comes around some cruises
would be in order. I'm getting mine out
Sunday, supposed to be sunny and 73*

My ranch is 11 miles west of Cleburne and 27 miles west of Hillsboro on hwy 171.

Sorry to ask but how to I look at who Henry is and what his "yard" is all about?
I have been out of game for awhile...I'll explain all that stuff later LOL

Thanks,

I hate to be acting like a machine gun question asking noob, but I have been on a hiatus,,,

Ha ha, no problem.
You are farther off than I thought.

If you go to the community tab at the
top and click on member's list, you can
find him, then shoot him a pm.

One of our mods, oldcutlass is a lot closer and
may have some leads that are a little closer. I
think he is in Grandbury, aka, Mayberry.

As previously stated, impressive job on that front end work. Looks spectacular compared to the wreck. Nice color, too! Saw one of these for sale at a swap meet for pretty cheap last summer. 330 and glasspacks. Lol! If only I had the money...

Welcome, that is quite the feat of straightening the front of that car, most would have parted it out. There are quite a few of us Olds folks around here and a very active NTOC.

Welcome fellow texas member! Nothing like a rebuild thread to binge-read! That before and after is a bit of heaven, truly.

Please fellas...I appreciate all the grins on the rebuild. I was a painter and a 1/2 *** body man for 10 years or so like from 1982-89. I had a little bit of an idea how to do this.
Also I am a charter member of The Arlington Redliners Street Machine Club est.1981.

This is the first Olds I have owned. Hel,l I never gave 2 ***** about Oldsmobile s until my daddy called me out to Lillian to look at this car which honestly then, looked horrible. But, when I opened and closed the doors and heard how solid it was, looked at the odometer I got an epiphany. I had worked on a few A bodies, 66/67 GTO's and Chevelle's so I figured "I can do this". The first few years were an adventure. A lot of the advice, the inner fenders, the wheels and more came from a Olds club guru "Jack" maybe in Mansfield. He was restoring a '70 W30 and had a Vista Cruiser wagon painted like a 442. White with black stripes. I have forgotten who he is. Maybe ya'll know him?..

The body rebuild looks better than it actually IS for an OCD nut like me so.....a rebuild story it shall be.....indeed.

Thanks a million guys, look forward to meeting some of you soon

Here's a link to the thread I started about the NTOC Zone show in Granbury. There is also the Sweethearts and Orphans show coming up, Feb 21-23. Look forward to meeting you, Godley is just around the corner.
