New to the site, not new to Olds-- Long Island, NY

Hey guys, I'm new to CO and I live on Long Island, NY. My name is Chris, I'm 27 years old and I'm an engineer. I got my first car, a 1972 Cutlass Supreme (442 clone) in 2002. I sold the car in 2007 and I've regretted it ever since, even though it was a rust bucket. Last year, I bought a gorgeous 1969 Cutlass Supreme post coupe. It was, by far, the cleanest car I've ever owned. I jumped the gun on purchasing it and let emotions get in the way of common sense, because I had a wedding to pay for with my fiance. I ended up selling it and making a small profit on it. Guess what? I regret that also, haha.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to becoming a regular member here and learning a few things in the process. I'm in the market for a new Olds now, since I'm in a better financial position to do so. My heart lies with Olds and Mopar, as I currently have a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda fastback that I restored last year. Here are a few pics of the 72 and the 69.

Thank you! I'm in touch with a well known member on here to see a car he has for sale. I'm hoping to make some time to see it this weekend.

Chris, welcome to CO from another 27 yo engineer

Nice pair of Oldsmobiles. I noticed the '69 was a post coupe.

Feel free to post a pic of the Barracuda.

Welcome to CO from another Long Islander! Nice collection of Olds there, especially the 69. Sorry you had to sell it, it really looks great in that color combo. Good luck in your search for another toy.

Thank you! Yes, I forgot to mention the best feature of the car --it was a post coupe. I can't stress how clean it was/is. I have the contact info of the guy who bought it and I made him promise me first buy back rights. Maybe some day...

Thanks! I'm a huge Mopar fan. See pics below...

I feel like I got less than the car was worth, but still made a small profit on it, as I got a great deal on it to begin with. Selling the car in the middle of the winter hurt the sale substantially, but I didn't have the luxury of waiting.

Thank you! The first generation 65-66 Barracudas are cool little cars too. My car was originally a highly optioned 273 Commando car. It now has a warmed up 360 made to look like the stock 273 for a little bit of old school hot rodder deception

Thanks Erik! A cruise would be awesome! I don't have many friends on the island with cars. They all sold them off slowly as they "grew up." Personally, I have no interest in growing up if it means selling your pride and joy and driving a lifeless minivan.

Welcome to the site Chris, from a former Long Islander. Good luck with your search but I'm thinking that little 'Cuda should keep you happy in the meantime

OCA Spring Dust-off is coming up soon, usually 1st Sunday in May. Show is in Merrick (Fireman's Field on Merrick Rd). When I have a date, I'll post it up.

Thanks OLD SKL, my love affair with vintage Mopars is pretty much equal to the one I have with Oldsmobiles. I am blessed to have the opportunity to own one of each.

I'd love to check that show out. Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep an eye on this thread for that date.

Hey Chris, my name is Curtis Caldwell. I live in Tucson Arizona and recently bought the 69 Cutlass. So far I love it. Found you on this forum and couldn't believe it when I found the car online. Really looks good with the chrome wheels. I was actually thinking about putting something similar on it. Got some engine upgrade ideas I doubt you'd approve of but it's going to have a 454 (625 hp) in it soon. I'm keeping and crating the original Rocket engine and trans in hopes to keeping all of the originality you tried so hard to maintain. Love the car. If you want some pics text me sometime. FivetwoZerofoursevenonezerothree8six. Take care. Also, I'm an engineer as well :-)

Welcome . That is a very niice Barracuda Chris. My first 2 cars were Barracuda fastbacks. I had a 69 with a 225 slant six that was a present for my 18th birthday and a 68 Formula S 340 that I bought from a friend. They are great cars.
