New Oldsmobile Fan

Hello,
I am "americasclassics" Live in good old Los Angeles, Nice and dry.
Have owned several classics over the last 6 year, mostly interested in their beauty and value. Have sold a few that have gone overseas such as a couple 1966 Mustangs (Australia) and a 1955 Belair that now resides in the Netherlands.

Recently I came across an original 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sports Coupe (Post Car) it is all original, No rust in floors or trunk but does have some around the front and rear windows other than that solid. Has only recieved a front passenger fender replacement (OEM F85)
Would like to know more info about the car before I sell and that is the reason for my visit to "classicoldsmobile".

Well, I have already decoded my cowl tag for the most part, and all letters are raised.
I did notice that there are two numbers indented into this plate that read 12 what may this indicate?

This came up once before. It was more directed to the Body number. The cowl tags had some parts pre-embossed by the manufacturer. In the case of the body number, you'll see 5177 is only 4 digits and all the production sequences are 6. Workers on the line would punch the last 2 digits on the tag. In your case, I believe your body number on the production line was 517712. And your production was 4th week in July, which would have been one of the last weeks for 65 production that year.
Nice looking car. Nothing a little work and straightening won't cure. Post more pics on the site when you get a chance.

Welcome to the site! Yellow on black plates, so it's been in Cali for a while.
Feel free to post whatever questions may come up. Also, if you've not found these other two sites check them out when you have time. They focus on the 1965 Cutlass/442. John
