New to the Olds game
Hi,
I am new to the Oldsmobile world, outside of my parents have a Cutlass when I was a kid and owning a 74 Delta 88 in college. I am wanting to get a 70's Cutlass to build into a sleeper. I have a budget of 14K for the car and any build work that needs to be done.
1st question: Is a 350v8 based Cutlass a good starting point? I won't be running this on a track, but as a driver.
2nd question: How much can I expect to pay for a rebuild of the engine and what sort of power numbers can I expect to see.
I have a couple of months before the money arrives so this is a great time to get my ducks in a row.

Welcome to the site. $14k should net you a decent Cutlass already somewhat fixed up. I would not overlook the 64-67's or 68/69 either. A SBO is fine for just cruising and the occasional burnout. Where are you located?
Since you are in the KC area.... check out 442.com and/or oldsparts.com. Then call Brothers Automotive in Lenexa. They only do Olds and specialize in EXACTLY for what you're lusting. Likely they know of where a decent car is in hiding. Don't think you will be disappointed. Ask for Garrett or Steve. I;ve been a customer for years..... good folks.
