Question New to Olds

This is my first to own Olds (84),I have driven a lot though. I have always been a Chevy man. This one came down from older brother to next. It took me 4-5 yrs to get it from him, he was going to put in a 455( my choice too) but it set in the yard instead. I am wondering if you can do anything with this 3.8 (2bbl) to get some horses and keep it original. It only has 108,000 on it at this time. I drive it 2-3 hundred miles a month. I would drive more if I had more Power. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to C.O. your join date is FEB/12 but your first post today.
PICS? also 84 what? I am assuming with 3.8 liter RWD Cutlass or 88. I doubt with 455 reference that it's a Ciera.

Sorry for being a little harsh, but details are always expected.

Welcome. I don't think there's a whole lot you can do with that 3.8 as far as power. Here's another thread where he's swapping in a V8 to give you some ideas. A 455 isn't really any more work than a 350 going from a 3.8. If your car is FWD, you can disregard this.

Welcome. The 3.8 is a pretty good engine, although most of us like to play with V8's.

Also note that the 3.8 is a Buick motor. It was just placed inside an Oldsmobile wrapper. A buick 350 is the easiest upgrade/swap for that car.
