new old streetracer from Georgia
In 1956 I sold my prize 32 Ford 3-window and bought a 1950 Olds 2-door hump back with a straight shift. I had been hazed about the mild 32 by my Dodge/Plymouth race friends so I decided to build a real street racer. I had a friend help and we built one of the fastest cars in Southern Calif specifically for street racing. We bored and stroked the engine, decked the block, polished the heads, added an Isky cam, used a 4 carb manifold, added headers with cut-outs. We matched it with a 1937 LaSalle floor shift trans. My friend made a louver press so we punches everything we could take apart. About 200 in the hood, 100 in the deck lid and small ones in the interior. Painted the car Yellow then took it to VonDutch for pinstripping. He striped each louver, around all the trim, the front of the hood and the rear of the trunk then air brushed flames out of the side windows. I had to take him a gallon of wine for him to get in the mood. With the finished car we then went from drive-in to drive-in ready to race. Just like the movie "American Graffiti. Even the ending was similar.

Welcome to CO! My 2nd car was one like yours, only Baby Blue. '56 spinners. Leaded. Bone stock engine, but I still won a lot of street races. Bought that car for $500, sold it for $650; around 1956. How does one manage to kick oneself in the rear??????
Once again, welcome, you will enjoy it here...........bunch of good folks that share the love of Oldsmobiles.
