New Memeber From Missouri
Hello everyone. im 21 years old and just purchased a 81 cutlass supreme from the original owners. they drove the car from 81 to 2001 when it got backed into and they decided to buy a new car rather than fix it. fast foward 12 years and i got the car for $800. it has 73,xxx miles on it, the interior is really nice but the plastics were faded badly, the body is in good shape other than a few tiny spots that are starting too bubble and the front header panel was broke from getting backed into. ive already took all the interior out shampoed everything and then put it back, also painted the plastics for now (until i can get some better ones), and i got a headerpanel from the junkyard and put it on. my future plans are to have my grandpa (pretty much my dad and big block fanatic) help me build a 496 stroker for it, id like to get it completly repainted the original color but take the vinal top off.

Good start and glad you have a plan for it.
What engine does the car have now? if it's a 305 Chevy or V6 Buick, go ahead with the 496 Chevy. If it currently has an Olds 307, your life will be be much simpler using a 425 or 455 Olds.
Contrary to what the Chevy guys say, the big-inch Olds are no more expensive to build than the BBC and are capable of really impressive figures. People here and on ROP can guide you thru the build.
