New member from nevada
Hi, everyone. New here from carson city. Always been a car nut from when i was young learned as i went. Just yesterday pulled home my 1964 super 88 four dour.
Car has quite a bit of family history, as my grandma bought it new. I dont know much about its early life, my first memorys of it in the mid 90's It was a california car and then made its way to Arkansas. When my grand parents passed away in 1999, my dad went out and tied up loose ends and pulled it back to California on the back of uhaul. It was nearly pristine with around 40k miles. He didnt do much with it, gave us kids rides around the block in it every once in a while. He ended up giving it to my older brother, probably not a good idea looking at the car now. He was driving in la and got three bullet holes in it, one in the windshield. His dog chewed up the front seat, and then let it sit for around the last ten years.
I finally convinced him to not let it rot anymore and got it from him. So it still runs and drives, no brakes what so ever. was fun getting it on the trailer. Drove it around the block and noticed the trans wanted to go into high gear way early, also noticed it has an aftermarket carb with no linkage going to the trans kick down. Luckily the orignal carb is still in the trunk.
Luckily it doesn't have any body rot, just some surface rust on the roof. Going to do a light restore just want it as a driver. Started working on getting all the lights working. didn't get far.
Im sure i will have lots of questions, i did find the service manuals on ebay and bought those. Sorry about the long post. Thanks and hopefully once i get going on this i will start a build thread. Will add pictures soon.

Sounds like a neat car and, being in the family all those years, it has special meaning. My car is like that, too - my parents bought it brand new when I was a senior in HS and the car just stayed in the family all these years.
And I like the area where you live! My youngest son is up at Stateline near where all the casinos are at south shore. We visit there every once in awhile, go to Carson to see the train museum, take the city walking tour, take a trip to Virginia City, and (my most favorite) go to the junkyards out by the cat houses on HWY 50! Every once in awhile there's a good find at those junkyards!
Have fun with your "new" car and post some pictures for us!

Thanks thats what the plan is. Could anyone tell me where i could source a rebuild kit for the orignal carb? Also does this transmission take dextron 3, or a different fluid. Im going to change the filter and fluid.

I took out all the interior, im going to dynamat the entire floor and doors and so on. Luckily there 99 perecent rust free. A little surface rust and one hole, from a bullet that came in back door and out the floor, going to get that welded up. I am thinking about painting the floors with some rust proof paint, Any one think thats a bad idead? The first pic is the worst of the rust just surface luckily.
