Greetings from Groton, MA. I joined because I have a 1978 Olds Delta 88 Royale Coupe. I bought it five or so years ago, and we are now ready to restore and modernize it. In HS, about 44 years ago, I had a 1969 Delta 88 coupe with a 455. Great car. I do like the 78, as well, and I am looking to build the original 350 Rocket block, and I am coming here for advise on doing so.

I am also a Mustang enthusiast, and my current variant is a 2013 Shelby GT500 convertible. I will probably always own this car.

Thanks for having me, Raz

Ha ha ha. Thanks for the call out.

I dig your Olds. I learned to like those center caps on those wheels. Were those a one year only center cap? Maybe 78-79? Nice car. Thanks for showing us your ride. Looks like your girl is good with it too.

Thanks for the gracious welcome.

I'm not sure if the wheels were one-year only, but I have always referred to them as Olds Rally Wheels. As I update this vehicle, I plan to go with the Year One 18" Olds Rally Wheel. My current wheels look ok but at least one is bent and they're just too small. I may clear-coat the faded paint. I like the look and it's all original. This is going to be fun.

Technically they are Olds Super Stock wheels. The so-called "starfish" wheel centers were unique to the Delta 88 applications, but those are essentially the same wheels used on 1975-up Oldsmobiles with different snap-in centers.

Obviously they are the same wheels. Oldsmobile got a heck of a ron out of them. So do you know that years those centers were used? Delta only. Didn't know that.

The "starfish" centers were used on the SuperStock wheels on the Delta 88s only from 1977-1984. The 1985 D88s were also available with SuperStock wheels, but they used the conventional small centers that year.

Welcome. I live in Leominster, MA and have the sister car to yours. Mine is a 1978 Delta 88 Holiday coupe. Might have to get together at Kimball's some night and park next to each other just to see people's reaction to 2 of these cars.

Welcome from another Olds/Mustang enthusiast (and formerly 16 years in Quincy, MA). My dad bought the Mustang new in 1987.
