IMAG1387_zpstk1zjaco.jpgHello everyone, I've just purchased a 1956 98 and a 1956 super 88 that I plan on restoring. They are both complete cars but are in pretty rough shape and will require extensive repairs. I will post pics as soon as I get them transported to my shop.

Both cars will need new floor pans, & inner rockers. The 98 will also need outer rockers, a trunk pan and some repair to the bottom of the drivers door. I bought both cars as a package deal for $2500 along with an extra windshield and and a car load of trim. Both cars have complete drivetrains. Both cars have no major dents or rot holes other than the 98 rocker and the floor pans, the latter due to the broken windows and years in the elements. Bumpers are straight with no dents, windshields and rear glass intact. I think it was a good buy.

Welcome aboard, I think you will like this board ,lots of good folks with years of experience behind them willing to help.

Just my thoughts but are you going to restore both cars or use one as a donor car? And as far as the rust issues on the 98 I would get it up on a lift and make sure that the rust is local to what you can see now and hasn't migrated in to more hard to repair areas. Good luck with your build, love the mid fifties cars...Lost in the fifties ''Tedd

Welcome to the site!

WOW, those are "projects" alright. If you've got the tools and the time (and knowledge of a good chroming shop!) you should be in business. I look forward to watching these builds go down.

Good luck!

Actually both cars are in pretty good shape. The 98 believe it or not is mostly surface rust on the exterior with the exception of the driver side rocker panel. Yes I can do the Fred Flintstone on the drivers side floor board though... lol... Not that big a project, I've fixed much worse for clients. These are my first 50's cars to own personally as I've been mostly a 70's muscle kinda guy. The 98 will for the most part be a restoration with with a few modern upgrades such as disc brakes, bigger wheels, AC & fuel injection. The 88 will be a slammed custom satin black, huge wheels, custom interior and something really special under the hood.

Thanks Ted, I'm gonna save both of them. First thing I'm gonna do is strip each car take them off their frames and media blast them. then I will have a blank canvas.

Thanks, and you are quite right. The hardest and most expensive part I think will be the chrome plating as i can do everything else myself.

You have your hands full. It is great that you will save them.
I had a '56 98 holiday when I was in high school. It was a great car.
I hope you start a thread on the build, it will be fun to see it all come together.
