Hello!
I just joined the group today. I own a beautiful 1986 Chevy shortbox stepside with a Rocket 455. Pretty stoked to get out driving (when the snow melts in Northern Canada). Looking to connect with members for tips and information on modifications and after-market items.

Thanks,
Bonnie (RocketChevy)

Welcome. We used to do that back in the day with Chevy trucks when the Olds diesels would crap out in them. What an easy swap too, enjoy!

Was gonna ask if this was originally a 5.7 Diesel truck.

Shortbed stepside was kinda uncommon by then.

My "RocketChevy"

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the awesome welcome! It has taken a few years to get her going, but she is beautiful. I always wanted an 1986 shortbox, its my dream truck. Ripped out the 305 as soon as I got it, i couldnt give it away.
Just got the crank shaft machined and repaired and the motor just went back in on Tuesday. Also brand new headers also went in and new grille installed.
P.s. the chevy guys don't think it's cool, but secretly I think that they are super jealous. Lol!

The pictures are from last week, trailered to the shop to put in my new exhaust and grille. I'll post more pictures Wednesday when i pick it up.

Welcome aboard! I see E heads on that engine, which are 1970 455 heads, shorty headers, HEI, and Holley carb. What other fun stuff do you have?

Hi! Thanks for the welcome. I was pretty fortunate to picked up the 455 in relatively good condition. Needed some work but overall cant complain.
my mechanic is pretty awesome and has been working with me to to get it up and up going.
I did post in the forum looking for advice on some modifications and after market items, but noone has responded. I may not have posted it in the right area. Maybe you can direct me to where I need to post looking for advice. Thanks 😊
