New here and URGENT advice needed
Hi, greetings fm Belgium !
My name is Danny and I am located in Antwerp, Belgium. I'm taking my first steps into the world of classic USA cars.
I am looking for a nice weekendtoy and love the looks of the USA 50/60's cars.
I am not "hooked" like you guys on the oldsmobile alone and my final purchase will depend on the looks of the car, the condition and price of the car (need to ship to Europe !) and can be olds, chevy, caddy, ford etc
I am sorry I just "walk in" here but I need EXPERT advice on below car. (no better way than this forum !)
Does anybody know this car or have inspected this car ??
What is the value ?
Anybody close to Ormond beach to have a look for me and to give me his thoughts ?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181281474370...t_48338wt_1301
thks in advance

When I look at a car that is being hyped as an "all original", I look at the details. The details are that the engine for being rebuilt, has a lot of dirt on it. The radiator needs to be properly painted, and the alternator is not correct for the car. Same for the air cleaner, where is the original? A $7000 paint job shouldn't have the door striker plates painted, when they should be natural metal, as originally installed. I could go on with other details, but for an "all original" car, it is far from it. Being sold at Barrett Jackson a couple of years ago, means nothing. They would sell your grandmother if they thought they could make a dollar on her.
A pack of salesman's lies is what I see.
If it bought it 2 years ago and drives it several times a week ... and yet somehow it's only got 1000 miles on it in 5 years??

it's a flipper's smokeshow. You can't walk away from this fast enough.

Thks yr feedback guys ! This is the reason why I signed up here !
Noticed that the engine bay is indeed not so clean, and the radiator shows
a bit of surfacerust. Abt the other items you mentioned ... I had no clue, as said I am not an expert on these cars.
If a seller takes the time to post so many pictures why there are none of the frame/underside ? I have no problem
with fixing or replacing small things but I don't want hidden rust or a seatpan welded together..
For me the car doesn't have to be all original and period correct but I prefer that people are honest with me. I have asked the seller a few questions and got following answers :
* has the car been inspected by a 3rd party or a potential buyer ?
no, the pictures speak for themselves
* any vid available with the engine running/car driving (not so hard these days with all the Iphones etc)
no answer
* any pictures available fm the restoration ?
no pics, a lot of records (? invoices ?, not clear to me)
* do you accept escrow service for payment
no, only banktransfer
* do you have a companywebsite as I can't find you on google.
no website, but honest seller... makes a living of ebay sales and
millions of dollars are transferred to his account on a yearly base
(if I check the 204 positive feedback fm buyers all over the world I
see a few cars only and a lot of other stuff like laptops...
has an office in New York as well.... ??
I am not judging the seller himself, just needed some info on the car but it looks like a salesman is telling the things we all like to hear. The seller would end the auction for 15 K.
MANY MANY thanks to this forum and her members and wish you already a merry x-mas and a happy new year
greetings fm stormy Antwerp/Belgium

remark : don't get me wrong, the car looks beautifull on the pictures but I not sure...15 K + shipping/clearance.

LOL Jamesbo! Good one.
I'm sure that steering wheel is also installed upside down. The horn rim should be on the bottom and the opening at the top to see the dash and gear selector.

Perfection? No.
Affordable? Yes.
If you can wade thru the sales chaff and get the truth.
You would NEED to have a person local to the car, with no stake in it, perform an inspection.
I am by no means an expert on this year range, but I am preeeeetty sure that by this year, the auto trans was de rigeur and the MANUAL trans was rare.
