New Hampshire Barn Find

Newbie Alert- Here is my New Hampshire Barn Find. 56 Super 88 with power steering, power brakes, jetaway transmission and factory air. This car was put away in 1992 with new tires, exhaust, shocks and brakes, and a rebuilt motor. It started out in Texas, then to California, and then to NH. 102K miles on it- all original and it has all the parts. It's a driver and has all the beauty marks of 56 years of wear and care. One spot of rust on the right front fender- size of a quarter easy fix. Electrically, not much worked, but wire wiggling is waking up most things. The transmission worked at first, but then quit shifting from second to third (did I mention jetaway?). I took it to a local guy here in Mass, and he spent four months staring at it. Now, after research on this site, I'm taking it to an expert (Steve Peluso) in West Roxbury MA. The interior is worn- seat fabric, floor carpet and headliner need to changed- lots of cigarettes through the years. Any suggestions on vendors would be appreciated.

Where? I see no '56.

Without pictures, the '56 is but a wraith.

Welcome to Classic Olds.

Welcome to CO.

We love barn finds, especially anything out of the fifties. I hope you took pictures of it with all the dust and pigeon poop still on it you will cherish those as much as the pristine show shots of later years. As far as suppliers go try Fusicks, USA Parts Supply, and your local parts house, you will be surprised what they can get you if you have someone behind the counter that will take the time and knows where to locate parts.

Here is a shot of mine coming out of the barn where is yours?....Lost in the fifties.....Tedd

I know you've found a place you're happy with but if you change your mind Jon Green at Auto Truck and Tow in Quincy is great electrically and mechanically

pics of my barn find

Well, I thought I had uploaded pics, but after 25 years in the computer industry, technology has apparently passed me by....... Can someone help me upload pics from my computer. I get this: "Security token missing" everytime I get done adding the pics.

As soon as I/we get that figured out, I have some great pics of a '56 time capsule to show everyone.

Thanks in advance,

Frank

I'm probably the least computer savy guy on this board but I think your file size is to large to post. Try resizing your photos, I use Adobe photo shop but there are others out there that I hear about. If no one chimes in give the search section a try this comes up often and there should be something that will describe the function a lot better than me.....Tedd

Google Picasa is free and very highly regarded, however I personally don't like it and found the re-size function difficult to use.

My personal favorite is ACDSee. You can download it with a 30 day trial and it IS easy to use.

Make sure you use the "go advanced" button at the bottom of the post area. You can't post pics from a "quick reply". Not sure why.

Frank, that means that the server can't find a valid cookie from the beginning of your photo posting interaction.
The possibilities are:
1. that you took too long - the cookies expire in a half hour or an hour, or so.
2. that your browser is not allowing Classic Olds to set cookies - check your preferences.

Once you've got that straightened out, you should be fine.

Also, remember that the server doesn't want any images larger than 1000 pixels on the long side, so resize as needed.
I have no idea how to do that on a WinDOS machine.

Because then it wouldn't be quick.

The NH Barn Find Pics

Well, thanks to all for the assistance, I think I have a few pictures to show you. My intent is that this car will look it's age so to speak and have a lot of the beauty marks that a 56 year old car should have. I'll probably upgrade the tires to radials and replace the ripped upholstery and headliner (three ashtrays- no cup holders) but it will be a driver.

Now it's off the West Roxbury to Lee Myles for a look at why the jetaway stopped shifting.

Regards,
Frank

I hope the car is bigger than it looks in those pictures, though.
