New guy from Socal. 1973 Cutlass 442

Whats up ClassicOldsmobile,

My names Zach. From socal with too many projects. Just picked up this 1973 442 with blown headgaskets. Probably shouldn't be adding to my projects but couldn't help it.

Here's a picture of it.

Also building a 73 Cadillac Coupe De Ville and a Long travel Toyota Tundra. The plague that us car guys have.

My Cadillac - Currently stripping it for paint right now.

Thanks, and looking forward to talking and learning from you all.

Zach

Welcome... 73 was one of my choices in the past... Back in the 80's I owned a 73 442 Green with black interior, 455 4 speed... But as the story goes, we can't keep the all...

Thanks a ton for the welcome guys.

Really excited for it. Hoping to have a nice little cruiser out of it once it's done. Got the intake manifold and carb off of it yesterday, probably gonna wait till the weekend to get the new headgaskets in and hopefully have it running by next week.

Welcome, Zach! Good looking cars. Nice 73...I noticed the custom upholstery on the swivel seats.

From the photo, it looks like you may have a Cutlass S model instead of a 442? Original paint? Original 350 or 455 engine? Automatic or manual?

Keep up posted on your progress with details and more photos when you have a chance.

Hey Macrover! Thanks.

I'd love to get schooled on this thing. This is my first olds so I'm basically just going off of the auction listing from this one. I haven't had the resource yet to decode anything. Anything and everything done was the previous owner, I have a used car dealership and couldn't help but buy it for myself to build a fun little street/strip car out of.

She has a 455 with an auto trans, I'm assuming it's a turbo400 but I haven't gotten under the car or anything as of yet. Just started pulling the motor apart to give it a freshen up while I'm doing the headgaskets on it. Paint is not original from my judgement of it.

Thanks everyone again, seems like this is a great forum with some great knowledge.
