new guy / old man from nebraska
Hello,
I'm Doug. I've driven Oldsmobiles off and on for years. Worked for an Olds dealership shooting undercoat and detailing new and used cars back in the late 1970s.
First car was 1973 Cutlass 350 Rocket in GM green/gold paint, white vynal roof, white/brown interior. Traded it for my second car.
Second car was 1979 Cutlass Supreme, 260 v8, silver w/ red interior. Had it for 175k miles. Sold it for $500 because the frame rusted out behind the rear tires. It suffered from the notoriously crappy GM silver paint job and pealed. I stripped it with ZipStrip, primed, and painted it w/ a mid 1980's Cadillac grey, hand painted the pin stripes, etc. This was my first body overhaul. But I walked away from GM/Olds becuase of poor quality and went Toyota.
Now I'm old. Five years ago I bought a pristine 1977 Cutlass Supreme, red on red, with red landau (not padded) out of Texas. Car has been stored, started, run, driven a bit, and returned to storage. It has a 321 v6 Buick. I thought that was cool becuase not many Supremes were equiped w/ that small six. Now getting a hankering to put in 350R/400TH, new suspension, brakes, etc.
So be prepared for some dumb questions becuase it's been a while since I've wrenched because Toyota's are that darned dependable.

Welcome Doug. I didn't know that engine got put into 1977 Cutlass Supremes. I thought that came later... Learn something everyday.
I see the biggest problems with your swap is the engine mounts, a little bit of wiring and some plumbing. Starter is on the other side from olds. Really not much difference than folks who put in a v8 olds in the 80's G bodys that came with the 231 buick. Its pretty doable
The suspension and brake stuff pretty normal. Love to see some pics.
