New guy from Ohio
I am now the proud owner of a very sad 1941 Oldsmobile series 98. I joined this site in hopes of help with parts (some parts are very hard to find or cant even find a picture of them) and so others can see how poor i am a purchasing restoration cars. May not look to bad in the pics but i'll snap some pics of the rear end and trunk area later those are were it need's the most attention. here's some pics of what i'm working with.I'll post a list of parts I need help locating or possibly some good vendors.

The plan is to keep the car as original as possible. interior, paint, drive-train, ect. The car is a matching numbers straight 8 with hydra-matic drive that runs and drives well.
things that worked when i got it
headlights low and high
tail lights brake lights (wiggle the wires in the trunk and they go out)
all the instruments in the cluster function properly
things that i already fixed
instrument lights and clock light (corroded headlight switch)
clock (just needed a fuse)
trunk light (bad ground in the socket)
things almost fixed but trying to troubleshoot
radio, comes on and crackles but can't get any reception, all tubes lit wiring looks pretty good
heater , i got the blower motor to turn and run but after 5 minutes the motor gets hot and quits. (trying to remove it so I can clean and grease the motor)
glove box light, I think the ground is bad either to the dash or the socket, but it flickered on when i was wiggling the bulb and the wire.
The paint code on the car is 21 A (casino brown body, seaplane bronze roof)
trim code 1 (all i could find was royal cloth for this code, the car shows a lighter faux wood grain still remaining on back passenger doors instead of oak)
built in Lansing Michigan

Welcome... X2 on having seen much worse... At least it appears to be all intact which should give you a very good working platform to build on... Good luck with the project...

Welcome! Good good folk here, and helpful. You may want to consider joining either the Oldsmobile Club of America or the National Antique Oldsmobile Club, or both, and touching base with their 1941 Model Year Advisors? They will have answers to many of your questions, have "been there, done that."
Sounds like you have a handle on things and know what you are doing. Bad grounds on a 75 yr. old ride are to be expected.
As for the radio, suspect it is vibrators. Best bet to yank it and have rebuilt by an expert.
Good luck and have fun! Keep us posted ... .

Welcome to Classic Olds. If it's running and shifting good, has all the glass intact, and has the basic interior , then you're further along than many I've seen. Post a parts needed list in the classified section on the site when you can. Good luck, Larry
