New Guy Needs 55 Olds Help
I'm new to this site, but not to Olds. However, I do need some help on a 55 Super 88 Holiday Sedan resto:
Anyone know of replacement floor pans available - classic fabrication has them but no cutouts for the brake pedal assembly, master cylinder pushrod, or floor buttons (high beams, autronic eye) - or the gas pedal pivot pins.
Anyone seen one out there that is an exact replica?
Thanks

floor pan
Olds dad, You are pretty lucky to find any repop parts for 55 era olds. You could use the old floor as a template and cut the appropriate openings as needed on the new sheet metal. This shouldn't be to hard as long as your old pan isn't to shot. I'm sure classic fabrication is trying to cut down on the variations they would have to stock on a slow moving item.I was very lucky, my car had almost no rust to deal with...Tedd

IMO their stuff is of poor quality, it is lighter gauge than original and cut and folded on a sheet metal brake, and does not fit well. I had rockers and floor pans from them for a 57 NY'er hardtop and was not satisfied with their product. A local sheet metal specialist or quality metalworker can do better. Just my opinion.

If I wasn't satisfied with the product, I'd look for a local Company to use them as patterns, with the necessary holes marked on them!
You don't list a location, but around here, the small shops are looking for anything to do to make payroll, no matter how small, and will negotiate price!
You might get a excellent product at a reasonable price - have them make 2 or 3, and put them on E-Bay to recoupe your time and money!
Just a thought!

Thanks all for your help...still not sure what to do...just sent off front bumper to Tri-City for plating - just got interior details ironed out with SMS - had some nice sheet metal media blasted - lots of work

Yes it was stuff from CF, inferior quality imo, and that's the general feeling of most Forward Look Mopar'ers who have bought from them. R/Car makes much better panels, but not sure if they do Olds, and more expensive... if I had to do it again I'd go with a quality local fabricator. There's talented metal workers out there who can do better, again that's just my opinion, but I have owned and restored a lot of vintage cars.

as far as i know there are no other companies making floor pans for the tri 5 olds. sheet metal is very hard to come by for these cars. what you can do is call desert vally auto parts in arizona, those guys have a ton of these cars and arnt afraid to cut parts off of them. they may be able to help you out................john

Yeah....emailed and called dvap and they never got back to me...have a lead on an allegedly perfect parts car....I'll see what those floors are like...otherwise we'll see. Thanks for the post.
