Excellent save!
Your car was originally called a 2-door sedan. That and a 4-door sedan were the only styles offered in the base 88 that year, which was called the "Deluxe 88." The higher-level Super 88 was available in additional coupe styles as well as a convertible. Do you know if yours is a "Deluxe 88" or a "Super 88?"
If it's the Deluxe version, it came orignally with a 303 cubic-inch V8 rated at 150 hp. If it's a Super 88, the base engine was a 165 hp version of the same engine.
The base price of the 2-door sedan Deluxe 88 was $2,262 and was the cheapest Olds available that year. The 2-door Super 88 was $2,395.
Production of the 2-door Deluxe 88 was 12,400 while for the 2-door Super 88 it was about three times more at 37,332.
All 1953 88's rode on a 120-inch wheelbase and were 204 inches long.

Wow, Thank you for the info. Im not sure which of the 2 it is. All the badges and door handles were shaved some time back in the 80's. The only reason I think this is because of of a dash plaque from a car show in Iowa in 1990.
Welcome to CO
Your car would make a really cool "Old style" classic hotrod from the 50's.
Lower it closer to the ground. Look at some pictures on line from the day
Here is a few to get you started

Thanks for the compliments. Im still tossing around ideas. I love the look of the "old school custom" But I saw a car on in a Hot Rod mag and loved the concept. It was called "Worlds greatest beater" I'm getting burnt out on the whole "patina" thing so paint and body work will be done. Right now I want to get it stripped, blasted and primed.
