New guy, Just saying HI!!
Hi all, I signed up so I could learn and gather info On the OLDS Cutlass 442. I love the styling and think they are/could a really cool hotrod/cruiser. I dont currently own one. I did have a 72-73 Olds 98, It had a Rocket engine(big Block I think?)Man that thing was HUGE. but rode smooth, took it a bit to get going but once it did, WHOA...It would cruise..
My mom Had an OLDS when I was younger, It was her first car.. A 1972 Oldsmobile 442, Red w White vinyl top, Black interior. But with a growing family,it went away. She kicks herself everyday for letting it go. Now anytime talk of old cars brings back thoughts of her pride and joy, She loved that car.. AND I am on a mission to give her back her car.. Well I cant give her the one she had, Some guy totaled it a few yrs after she sold it. But I can do the next best thing, I'll get her another one and fix it to be a clone/replica of the one she had, and loved so much.
I look forward to learning as much as I can from all you here. and any advice/help is greatly appreciated.....
THANKS.
Here Is one like she had, just different colors

Welcome to the site! There's a lot of experience on this board so when questions come up fire away. There's also several member from your part of the country who can help you look for that car. Good Luck with your plans!!!

WELL, the Main problem I am having is the different body styles available. I have been looking on several sites and it is such a pain trying to find the right car since I have yet to see ANYONE post up in their for sale or wanted ad, which one it is.. I get the feeling alot of people dont even realize this.. hell I didnt... I thought I was loosing my mind, Until someone pointed it out to me.. the fastback and the notchback.

BOTH 1972 Cutlass.
I am Finding it almost next to impossible to find the Fastback body. for the MOM project, at a reasonable price..

The dark green car is the Cutlass S body style which was also used for the 442. The light green car is the Cutlass Supreme body style. You are right that there are more of the Supremes around a lot more made initially. You may also find an f85 occasionally but there were very few of those, I think they also had the fastback body style. Good luck and welcome to CO.

WELL, Thank you for explaining that. This is the most in depth answer i have gotten, I really appreciate it. and IF the WIKI #s are correct then finding a TRUE 72 442 is going to be next impossible.
Model Units
Cutlass Hardtop 751
Cutlass S Sports Coupe 123
Cutlass S Hardtop 7800
Cutlass Supreme Convertible 1041
Total 9715
Ok so I'm off to research more on the bodies.... I never knew there was more than one..
