New guy from Indy

Good day, my name is Aaron
I currently drive a 63 dynamic 88, and have a blast.
We added another 88 over the weekend, but sadly it currently is not running.
It car seems odd, like a project that went wild..... Or maybe it well be cool.
I'm hoping to learn more about it has time go's on.

Now I'm off to research this rocket motor and this crazy cut up hood.

Thanks for having me and thanks in advance for any help

Aaron

Welcome. If you get a chance to post pictures we love seeing them. There are some of us that meet up on the south side of Indy every year and drive to the Suds. Between 10 and 20 of us Olds guys. What year is the 88 you just picked up?

Sounds like fun... And yes I'll figure out to get some pics up..
Our newest olds is a 49 and has a long way to go, but we did pull it out of the woods.

Working on this picture thing... I'm a little slow on this computer stuff.

Thanks to this great site I have figured out that my crazy hood is a dealer display hood from 1949. Which I guess go's with the rocket motor that sets under it.

This rust bucket is getting more and more interesting
1949 was the first year of the 88 and the rocket motor, plus it has a dealer display hood. May just make a cool car to hang from the ceiling.

Whats special about the hood? Does it have the plexiglass in it?

The hood has two large cut outs , one on each side of the hood. I saw it here under display hoods. Then I called the olds museum and they said less than a 100 were made for display in 1949, And mine is still attached to the car it came with. After cutting open the truck we found the plexiglass pieces that go in the hood.

Oh, now we gotta' have pics

I found it easiest to create a free photobucket.com account and upload my pics to there. Once it's uploaded, click on it to open it, click in the image (img) box on the right (that copies the appropriate code), and come back to the forum. Start your new message (like this one), click on the "insert image" icon above this text box (it has a little mountain and moon on it), paste the text you got from the "img" box on photobucket into the text box that opens when you click on the mountain, and click "okay".
Wow, that sounds way more confusing than it actually is.

We found this in the trunk last night. Not yet sure where it would have been displayed on the car while in the show room.

But it is a very cool tin piece
